I moved them to the barn in a horse trough. The first chick decided he liked his siblings better than me, which is kind of a good thing. Yesterday I carried him around all day! The last egg still hasn't pipped, but I candled it and the chick moved, so I will give it another day or 2. Those chicks sure are cute, 1 black, 1 yellow, 1 with a grey back and a yellow tummy and face, and 1 unknown!
If you had let her stay on the nest with an egg or golf ball then took the chicks out at night and put them under her she would have raised them as if she had hatched them I bet.I did that with one of my hens and it worked out great.

I tried that earlier in Spring when her eggs were stolen by something (not sure what). I bought her 2 chicks from the feedstore, but for some reason she rejected them. I guess I was just afraid she would try to kill them again, and I might not be there this time.
