My hens eggs will not hatch. What is she or what am I doing wrong?

I have had 2 hens that started setting the first hen I let set for 24 days and nothing. Howeveer when we "broke her up" i decided to crack the egg just to see if the chick had develeoped any at all and it had started but did not complete. What could be the cause of this? I currently have a hen hatching and I have candled her eggs I am seeing the vessels going up the side and hoping that she will hatch Monday or Tuesday as planned. I am just at a loss as to why the eggs did not fully delvelop. PLEASE HELP!!!

How many eggs was the hen setting on? Were other chickens able to disturb her while whe was setting? Did an egg break in the nest or did she defecate in the nest? Was the nest clean and dry?
