My horse passed away this morning...

I'm so sorry. It's always so hard to loose a pet, especially when you've had him so long. I'm with you, I'd want to remember him the way he was.

I feel for you too. I lost my gelding a long time ago, but I still miss him. Like you, he was a big part of my life. We will never forget the special ones!

Hi Chel, You have done the best thing, Im sure he had a wonderful life.
My horse also had to be euthanised and I had to be there to hold her while the vet gave 2 huge tubes of sleeping tonic! she dropped to sleep quicker than any dog or cat would. I held her head in my lap and bawled afterwards until I saw the tow truck arrive for her, then I turned my back and walked home and didnt look back.
I placed her rug inside out opon the floor and lay on it surrounded by her smell and bawled for hours. I still have her rug tucked away. I cannot part with it.
I feel your pain, she is in peace now.

I'm so very sorry.
There is no reason for you to go up there tomorrow if you don't wish to. When you feel like it on some fine day, you can go up there and plant a tree or something for the next generation to play under.

I just put down my 30 yr old horse. It's hard. I wish I would have gotten some tail hair before he was buried.

Hey Glora, im sorry to hear that too, have you got some hair on his/her rug or brush that you could bunch together.
I took a bit of jaffa's mane hair and I have it in my shadow box on the top shelf. It was a spur of the moment thing and it just felt right at the time. I didnt want her to go, but she lives on, I was told that I could never concieve and then Mikey came along 11 months later and he has all her traits, and his hair was the same colour as her mane !!!Circle of life.
