I think you should consider yourself lucky that he "hands his paycheck over" to you at all. You shouldn't turn this into a war. Sit down and talk to him about your guys' finances. No emotions no yelling, explain how the rent to own thing works and see if you guys can come to an understanding.

I can see buying a car on credit if it's the only way you can get to work, most have to finance a house to live in if they don't want to rent.

This is a symptom of something else! You have to talk about your finances with each other...IMO that is one of the most important conversations a couple can have. Good luck! And if I were you, I'd get the chicks anyway. I don't need his or anybody else's permission!!

(Since you say you are working, you should be able to use a part of your paycheck for something that you want. At least that is how it goes with me and my SO.)

If they are going to go waste money on something that you can buy 10 TIMES cheaper..I would go buy him the system...then take the money that he was WASTING and get my dang chickens !!!
And if he has a problem with that...Then His A** will meet my FOOT...and he better hope that the door doesn't hit him where the Good Lord Split Him !!!!
