Hi, I've been lurking here for 2 years! My husband told me about his fun having chickens in his suburban home as a kid. We decided when we moved (last October), we'd pick a place we were allowed to have chickens. We can only technically have 5, and no roosters.

Soooo....fast forward to spring and ordering our first chickies. I've been obsessed. I've read and read and documented each step. Honestly, I got ahead of myself because we don't even have a coop yet! Our chickies are quickly outgrowing the retrofitted rabbit hutch. I'm basically hounding my poor brother-in-law who is a carpenter by trade. Hey, I bought him a new computer and I'm going to make him a basic website for his business!

If you look at my posting history, I have made it a point to take careful pictures because I found those the most helpful when I wondered "Is this normal for chick X, aged X?"

Anyway, that's me.

I plan on documenting our coop building, too.

Yay for silly urban chicken enthusiasts who treat their chickies like the substitute children they are, lol.

Welcome to Backyard chickens. Good thing to document everything and photos too - now and then BYC has a coop contest, and you could enter yours.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. I'll look forward to seeing your pics.) Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck in getting your coop built.
