My Husband's Solution To The Stinky Soggy Brooder Problem

This will come in super handy whence ever our scovies start hatching babies(Because it will be way to hot out side for them) and we are getting goslings at the end of this month, so maybe we can refine the waterer, we have two similar ones like yours that i completely forgot about!

I have a question about your bedding, do the ducklings eat a lot of it? We used the same bedding and our little guys we chowing down on the bedding more than the food so we switched to hay instead. It really freaked us out, we thought they were going to die from eating so much of the stuff, but they are alive and healthy. Just curious

Hmmm. Dh did this for some ducklings someone gave us. He said he thought of it all himself , i wonder! Lol! Its a good idea tho and i will testify that it works!

I have had several different batches of ducklings and I start them out on sand until they figure out what/where their food is then switch them over to pine shavings. it has worked ok but it is really dusty. I might try pellets or straw when my bag of shavings runs out.

Straw works wonders IMO, it smells nice and doesn't get plastered all over their feet like the shavings we used did, less dust also, and it doesn't get in their water as bad. We will have to try sand out though, we have plenty outside and it would provide some grit too.
