Hi Tammy! i’ve never even heard of ice fishing shacks but all recommendations are welcome as i can do my research. We will be neighbors in a year or two. I’ll be moving up to GA when my boys graduate. I have a brother, my older brother, that lives in West Dawsonville & has a dog boarding ranch near Big Canoe. I fly up frequently as I am trying to figure out where to buy. Of course I will be taking my birdies with me.Ice fishing shacks don’t come on the market very often in Miami
Welcome to BYC, from another Tammy (in Atlanta)!
I love the baby pool idea! I gave them watermelon this morning and they loved it. What brand of electrolytes can I give them in their water? The heat everywhere has been bad this summer already. You can make a gravity feed waterer with a 5 gallon bucket and watering nibs or cups. We have them and they work out great. With two chickens you can go with a mall size bucket if you want. You can look at what time folks have done here for waterers. You can also consider adding electrolytes to water during this extreme heat. We also give chickens frozen vegetables or fresh fruit and vegetables in small quantities and ibut not everyday to help. Some use baby pools it’s a little water too. Have never tried that though.
LOL, we’ll be retiring in a few years when my youngest daughter graduates… To FLHi Tammy! i’ve never even heard of ice fishing shacks but all recommendations are welcome as i can do my research. The weather is so much nicer there.
You can use a electrolyte powder from Sav-A-Chick. It can be purchased online or at a farm store like TSC or Rural King or at a local feed store. Also you can make your own. If you search on BYC for electrolytes you can find a homemade recipe.I love the baby pool idea! I gave them watermelon this morning and they loved it. Hey Tammy WECOME to BYC, when you joined you had 2 chickens, have you picked up any additional? I found that you just cant have enuf chickens, LOLHi my name is Tammy. I’m a Physician Assistant for 13 yrs now (Burn-Trauma 3yrs, Neurosurgery 8yrs/Oncologic Plastic Surgery 1yr). I am a single mom of two grown boys, a 3yr old golden doodle (Holly) and two cats (Nico & Mochi). We live in Miami FL & I am new to BYC. Yesterday, I was fortunate to have been given 2 Chickens (don’t know the breeds) by a very close friend who owns a farm & has over 35 chickens. Although as a child I grew with a bunch of chickens and all kinds of animals, I have never done this on my own, but I have been wanting to do this for a very long time. I’m fascinated with their cuteness & the fact that I can have my own fresh farm eggs anytime. With my new & flexible work schedule I now have time to do something that else that makes me happy… something that I love. I still can’t believe I came home yesterday with two chicken! I’m so excited but I’m gonna need some guidance which is why I’m here. I was educating myself by watching some videos on YouTube and came across a video channel Oak Abode who mentioned joining a forum and gave the name of BYC. I decided to join so here I am! It’s nice to meet you all.
