Hi, I'm not new to BYC, but I never properly introduced myself. My name is Allison. I'm 15 years old, and I have an unhealthy obsession with chickens. My obsession started almost 1 1/2 years ago, when I was able to convince my dad to go to Tractor Supply to get about four. It was only then when we realized that you had to buy at least 6, so we got 4 Red Sex Link Pullets and 2 Unsexed Rhode Island Reds. (I wanted to increase my chances of getting a rooster to protect the girls.) With MY luck, however, I got 2 roosters. We have since lost 3 girls and we had to get rid of the meaner rooster because he was attacking everyone and giving too much attention to the only hen we had left (2 roos to one hen.. yikes!) And we went to Family Farm and Home to get 5 more hens. Right now, we have 1 Rooster named Abraham (RIR), 1 Full grown hen named Jacky (Golden Sex Link), 2 12 Week old hens name Zoey and Chloe (Light Brahmas; couldn't resist the feather feet), 1 12 week old black australorp hen named Lucy (or Lulu), 1 12 week old Buff Orpington hen named Buffy, and 1 12 week old Silver Laced Wyandotte hen named Poppy. I found out about BackYardChickens.com though one of my frequent chicken Google searches, where I found an article and started exploring the website and decided to create an account. My other hobbies consist mostly of music. I play the flute as my primary instrument, but I can also play Piano, Clarinet, and Ukelele. I'm in marching band; I do Color Guard. Despite the huge commitment to marching band, I still find plenty of time for my children, the chickens.
