We're back at square one with Ivy. Saw her in a nest today, no egg, felt her keel and she has lost some weight. Her abdomen feels full of fluid, but is not yet badly distended, so back on the penicillin she goes. Poor thing, this is round #3 with this. I hope she recovers a third time! She's a sweet girl and I'd love for Fern to have a sister here. Fern is such a funny thing, we really enjoy having her.

Kathy, you just enjoy Sage. I'm happy you have her! She sounds like the same type crazy girl that her older sister is.

Poor Ivy, it was just two months ago she restarted laying after her second bout with reproductive infections. I think she'll do this for the rest of her life if she recovers again, lay awhile, then suffer another infection. She's 4 years old and doesn't lay that often, but not bad for a 4 year old hen, about 3 eggs a week. She did produce a cool, barred-looking egg the other day, but that was the first one in about two or three weeks. Now, this.
