She is simply amazing. I hope that should I find a point in my life where I am losing the battle against cancer, that I handle my passing with as much dignity and spunk as Ivy has been doing.

I just recently was watching a video of a dog dogging traffic, even getting knocked down by one vehicle, just to pull another dog out of the road after it had been hit. Animals know nothing of selfishness, cowardess, disloyalty or dishonesty. But not one single car driven by a human stopped, not one human offered help to either dog. That lack of action speaks a million words.

Look at all of the roosters that we have read here that lost their lives protecting their flocks. They have no idea that they actually have a choice...they do not have to fight to death for a few hens...they only know it is what they do...protect their girls. Thank the Creator that humans cannot "train" those qualities out of animals.

I am so thrilled that I brought something to her that she enjoys...it really warmed my heart watching her with those grapes. It warms my heart thinking about it.

They are truly amazing creatures. I have to tell you that I think Charlotte is faking being broody. She is perfectly fine, until Isaac walks close to her, then she puffs up, drops her wings and clucks for all she's worth, LOL. And it's working, too. Isaac doesn't try anything with her. Smart girl, that Charlotte. Some of mine are just wise old souls.

I get choked up every time I hear a story about a valiant rooster fighting for his flock.

OMG what a smart girl that Charlotte is...what a little stinker. Isaac will catch on to her game soon enough. LOL

Cyn, is June an Ameraucana? I have two of her eggs and I assume they are fertilized by Isaac?

remind me...what temp on my bator and what humidity? I know Lockdown on Day 18....Dang it I am getting all nervous again. LOL

June would be considered an EE, however, she came from a breeder who was working on the salmon color and he also had blue wheatens. Seems like a BW rooster jumped the fence into the project pen to me.

I've seen that video too Cetawin, and the sight always tears my heart to pieces. Just another huge argument to spay or neuter your dogs and cats and for the love of little green apples, know where they are at all times. Cats and dogs should not be allowed to "Free Range". Leave that up to the experts at free ranging....your CHICKENS!!!

I've learned a lot about chickens and their world, and how that translates into my own life:

Never pass up an opportunity at a particularly yummy little goody. You don't know when its like will present itself again.

Roost wish someone you like a lot and cuddle up close.

If somebody pecks at you, don't take it personal. Just move to another roost.

Take a dust bath every day. Even if you don't really need one!

Spend some time in the sun whenever you can. Tomorrow may be raining.

Don't be afraid to groom your neighbor. Someday they might just return the favor when you need it most.

There is safety in numbers. Its when we face the world alone that we are at our most vulnerable.

At the end of the day, it's nice to settle down for a long nap, forget about all of your cares and worries, secure in the knowledge that tomorrow will come.

Greet every day with a loud and joyful cry that the whole neighborhood can hear!!!! You made it through another night and it's wonderful to be alive!!!!
