my journey with cancer

Pati - I hope YOU have a great day! And I also hope that the treatment goes smoothly for you and don't get sick. Eat light small meals and no greasy stuff! That's what worked for me. You only have one more to go after this right? Just knowing that will make you feel better!

Those hours spent at chemo are fun aren't they?

I actually kinda miss the buzz I used to get from that, it must of had an effect on me because today I'm so tired - like I can't keep my eyes open - I'm thinking my body is going thru withdrawals or something from not getting the steroids this time. *whew*

Sorry to hyjack.........back to you Guienalady, - how are you today?

guess i better enjoy myself eating the next couple of weeks. got a bunch of stuff to read and figure out ..still trying to grasp that this is all relly happening.

also since i have terrible veins they said i would have to have a more permanant type port for the treatments. yet another bit of surgury.

Guienalady - that's exactly what I had to do. Six rounds every 21 days. I have to tell you it went by faster than I thought it would. If you follow their directions, you should be fine! I was all prepared for treatments expecting the worst, which didn't happen. I was quite fine in the stomach department, it was the tired, weird hangover feeling that lasted a couple of days, then I started to feel like myself by Monday. (I had my treatments on Wed) Yup, lost my hair 2 wks after the first treatment. The port is a good idea, it's a quick little surgery, not bad at all. When I went for treatments, all the people with ports had no problems, the people who had used their veins - there was always a little problem with torn veins or something. eeeek

I'm supposed to start radiation soon, but DH & I are going out of town the first week of Sept and I'll call to arrange for radiation treatments when I get back. Somehow I keep putting that part off
hu.gif
And I heard from many people that radiation isn't bad at all. I'll find out for sure soon enough.

Glad you got your staples out. Keep your eye on the wound, you don't want an infection! Please keep us updated on your journey so we may rally for you.

You will do fine!!

Hey the port is a snap. Out patient done within an hour or 2, then make DH take you out to lunch!! It's sooo much better than having to deal with them trying to find a vein and missing all the time. One quick pinch and then you can sleep for a couple of hours!

You're gonna be fine!! WE will NOT allow it to be any other way! You need that attitude that you are going to kick cancers butt!! Any other way and you are doomed. Plain and simple. Attitude is the #1 key. You can have the best doctors, best hospital, best chemo around but if your mind believes you are a gonner, you might as well start planning your funeral right now.

Now is the time to give your body what it wants. If it wants sleep, sleep. If it wants to be out in the sun, go outside but make sure you have sunscreen! If it wants mashed 'taters (snicker) give it 'taters!

You can do this!! Everytime you get down, we will be here to kick you in the butt to get you up and going again!!

well couple of nights ago had a bit of a pity party and didn't invite anyone to it. the worry of paying the bills, glenn in rehab, everything that needs doing that isnt getting done, yard mowed, house cleaned taking care of all the animals. and doing it all myself while i am still so very tired , the part of my scar that is not healing like it should i am gonna have to have some stitches put in it again.

still i am tired and not much energy it is about all i can do to feed and water the young guieneas outside and getting in before collasping on th couch..can't even seem to get enough energy to run the sweeper. i was really hoping i would have some energy to at least get the house cleaned before chemo starts on the 13th. but don't look like it. my butt is tired of sitting and tired of laying on the couch or bed...just tired and haven't even started chemo yet.

did get my hair cut even thinking of getting a little more cut off too.

doing some better today ..

another tireing day of running around....went to dr to see about the mediport ,that will be done on the 10th, not sure what time yet. walking around wally world really tired me out...after seeing glenn got home and stll had to feed the guienas but finally got to rest awhile.

wish the drs would make up theire minds on what to do about my gap where the staples didn't do their job.....oncology dr on call the 6th said to come in today,,,then the triage nurse says to have dr carter look at it he said stitching wouldn't do would just have to keep nepsporin in it and gauze over it, it would just take longer to heal due to my weight, diabeties, and chemo coming up but would heal.

THEN i get another call from the triage nurse she wants to talk to the oncology dr and see what he wants to do ...so may still have to va again tomarrow!!!

i swear can't catch a break for nothing..not one thing it is six others and glenn wanted to be a hard headed ass today.
smack.gif
since he fell on sat night....he stood up was dizzy and fell with the chair sideways.... they want to put a chair alarm on his chair and he said absolutly not...sooooooo had to go and talk to him i swear he just won't listen it is for his protection and MY peace of mind.
idunno.gif
it will be put on his chair but won't put it past him to figure a way around it , he can be very sneaky sometimes .

can i crawl under something and forget the next 6 mos or so or wake me when it is over??
