As you may have noticed I wipped the camera out the other day and started taking pics of eeryone for my little web site.

Now my lavender silkies are hatchery stock so they have a lot of work ahead of them. I have 2 roos this one's color is not so good but it has a better comb and wattles than the other one so I will use him first and save the other lav roo for a....

anyway here is the pair. I also will be adding a grey SG, and black silkie, and 2 buff silkie hens to the mix. They re good quality so I am hoping in time I will get the lavs to look more like them.

Hopefully at some point in my lifetime I will have eggs to offer

That hen is one of the better Ideal lavenders that I have seen. Your project sounds interesting for sure.

The buff and grey are going to add some extra hurdles genetic wise. It would be easiest to stick with black and lavender if you want to end up with lavender in the end.

Of course surprise colors are always exciting too....haha.

Amen to that--You really shouldn't put your buffs and greys together--you'll mess both colours up. I can't really imagine how grey and lavender will mesh together--I don't think grey lavender will be noticeable to any extent. Buff plus lavender will give you isabel. Note on the above, I am referring to homozygous lavender. Het. will have no affect.

well I was hoping for isabelles, and the grey, well I am just curious its a SG anyway so at worse I will have some funky colored SG and a few silkies I will then move her on to the gray pen once I have hatches a few to see so its only temporary. and the black will really be the one for improving type.
