My Leghorn Hen Is Missing !!!

Glad you found her. I know when one of mine went missing for 24 hrs I was so distracted and worried, I couldn't do anything else.

She did turn up with no real explanation of where or why she went. We think she hitchhiked into the city for a night out. . .

It's such a relief to find a missing chicken! I'm glad you found her.

We once had a tiny flock of four hens that all went missing at the same time in broad daylight. I wandered all over our property, and even walked two houses down the road looking for them. I did find a large pile of feathers near the neighbors fence - but that was it. I had to sit around all day worried - and any pile of feathers usually meant BAD news.

Finally, at dark, 2 of them showed up in the coop. We found the 3rd hen had been killed when we were making our rounds of the property late that night along the edge of the river and it wasn't too far from the feather pile.

No sign of hen number four until TWO days later. I got up one morning and there she was - in the hen house. I was overjoyed. At a chicken! I think it was that day that I realized my hens are so special to me

Unfortunately the disappearances kept happening (as well as the evidence) - and we finally saw what appeared to be an enormous fully red/brown colored hawk (which we don't have around here) or a Golden Eagle. I only have one hen left - and I think she suffers from PSTD!
