My leukemia's back.

I found this:
"As mentioned above, under Florida law, any “nuisance” animal caught in a trap must either be humanely killed or released on the same contiguous property where it was caught"

Seems like maybe the "crime" was drowning it? That isn't very humane. But he likely didn't have options, probably would have been in a lot more trouble if he did it with a gunpowder firearm which is more humane. I guess he could have called animal control and see if they would dispatch it. Still, I can't imagine killing a coon "inhumanely" would be a jailable offense, more of a minor misdemeanor fine "crime".

Geez, if that were to be common here, heck with the family, I'd be looking at real firearms.

Bruce, you know where I stand on that issue! Arm yourself before that constitutional right is taken away from it's citizens. You never know when the need will appear to protect your family. Come home to find a wild eyed coyote sitting on your front step? Any other wild critter that has no fear of humans? God forbid that it should ever happen, but there's also the threat from a drug crazed human. Bottom line is this: If it comes down to the bottom line, I will be protecting innocent lives.

Yeah but illegal in most cities.

And, that is why I believe that coon got a ride in a boat. In no way should that man have been penalized.

Oh my, I am pushing my luck with the pellet rifle hidden in the barn. If someone in the family were to discover a proper weapon that could be used against predators (on my animals or that crazed druggie) IN the house where it could be easily accessed? :th

Fortunately while there are many people with opiate addiction problems in the state, I've not heard of them going door to door. Don't know if that would be more likely in the more densely populated cities or out the less populated areas like where we live.

The guy has been charged with aggravated animal cruelty, and bond has been set at $5000. Interestingly, in that county, the maximum fine for a first offense resulting in an animal's death is $2500. Does that make sense?

Somebody has an axe to grind, and is doing so at the expense of this man.
I agree.

Makes me wonder if someone had seen me hit a bird with my car with it ending up dead in my front grill.... would I have been fined?

What about the rodents my boys kill?

That makes no sense at all. I've never heard of bond being more than the fine. What a crazy world we live in.

Bye Al, it's been nice knowing you but you're in big trouble now. We'll see you when they let you out of the pokey.

Al and I will both be doing time then. I am here to confess that I have slain a partridge with my car. I then extracted it from my grill, dismembered it, and ate it for supper.

I am also preparing to engage in premeditated murder of mice and rats in my yard. And I just might employ a bucket of water as my murder weapon. Guilty as charged... at least I hope I get to be guilty. That means that my vengeful murder spree will have been successful.
