My leukemia's back.

I just talked to a friend of mine in SC. She's got her family all packed up, and they're leaving tomorrow. I thought maybe it was because she lives in a double-wide. Nope. Apparently the whole town where she lives is being evacuated. The military base is already bugging out, the hospital is transferring their patients out, etc. Her husband gets dialysis every other day, and the dialysis center is shutting down, so he won't be able to get his dialysis. I asked if there was a shelter she was going to, but she's headed to her brother's home. Arrangements have already been made, so he can get whatever medical care he needs there, and this way she can take her 2 dogs with them, and won't have to worry about them.

Glad your friend is getting out, especially with her DH's dialysis needs. Wonder how many in the mandatory evac areas will "shelter in place" and need to be rescued. Hopefully they will left to their own devices until it is 100% safe for people to come in for them.

Good luck and stay safe to any and all in the path of Florence!

I talked to her this morning. She's leaving tomorrow. The dialysis center is staying open today, and doing all the patients at 75%, and will do the same tomorrow. They will shut down tomorrow evening. The military has pretty much guaranteed they can keep the traffic flowing. They're bugging out too, and have steadily been transporting everything, and everyone out. They've got helicopters monitoring, and people along the evacuation routes keeping the roads flowing.

We made an appointment, and went to see the principal today. She had the vice principal in with her. Later she called in the teachers, then she called in my grandson. It went well, and we got a lot ironed out. They are aware there are major issues with his iReady program, and his Renaissance Reading program. It's all being worked on, which is why he hasn't been allowed his computer time, but they failed to tell him, or anyone else, so it appeared they were singling him out.

The teachers have been made very aware, by everyone involved, of the need to communicate more information, and with more frequency, and have agreed. A couple issues involved the teachers not having fully explained their protocols. He was used to doing things a certain way for his other teacher, and these teachers do things somewhat differently. They didn't bother explaining their new protocols to him. That was remedied today.

His teachers informed the principal that my grandson is already at 3rd. grade level in everything. They scheduled him for an evaluation to be done next week. After the evaluation, we will be updated, and decisions will be made on how to best proceed.

Blooie, at least twice I remembered what you said, and refrained from sarcasm, or being a smart aleck. I put pressure on when needed, then slacked off when it was not needed. I kept in mind that it wasn't a blame game, but about correcting the problems. I knew I needed to enlist their cooperation to do their best for my grandson. I think that was achieved.

Excellent!!! :clap

Glad to hear the news.

Hurricanes on one end if the country, fires over here. The fires that I mentioned are close now! Smelling smoke again. Bad in the house. We could see the smoke rising high yesterday but today it was closer and lower. We have that orange hue again. Update on the fire about 20 mins. ago, they are evacuating. Those poor people. Weather? High winds now, and are expected the next few days. If this keeps up, I just may take one of the couple of kids that offered a place to stay. :(
