My son and daughter in law can't cook for chit either. My friends kids never learned to cook - now that they are on their own it all fast food and frozen pizzas. They are so excited to be invited over for a home cooked meal.
They have a maid for that..... and they have a lawn service. This stuff used to bother me.My friend’s husband never learned how to cook. Couldn’t even make a frozen pizza. I vowed that my sons would learn to cook and do laundry so my future daughters in law would like me.
I'm a really good cook...... but now with no one to cook for. I AM TV DINNER KING.....Good thing I learned to cook or I would have been the "TV Dinner King" when I graduated college and moved to Vermont. Lived on my own until DW came around and that was 10 years later. Of course DW has always been more of a baker than a dinner maker, gotta admit 39 years of being the primary cook is getting sorta old.
Phill I know some single people hate to cook for themselves because it's difficult to cook just for 1 like how do you make a meatloaf easily for one? or a lasagna or make a large one of either and not get burned out on it before it gets bad. but I met someone years ago that went to come yard sales and bought up boxes of margarine and cool whip tubs for little or nothing (this was many years ago before we got dollar stores in our area) and this one guy washed them all up and bought up supplies on sale and made pots full of soup (chili, veg. beef, and the like) and spaghetti, lasagna, meat loafs and divided the stuff out into ind. servings and some containers 3-4 servings after the first time forgetting to label all he did after was label something like meatloaf, whole 10/11/12: meatloaf w/ m.potatoes/corn 11/21/17. so he made his "TV dinners" I think last I heard many years after meeting this person I saw him again and asked him about it, he refined it to in essence entries only, (apparently he made some sides ahead but only a limited amount of stuff that you could not find in a can or get a serving form a bag of frozen vegetables like mashed potatoes and green bean casserole and he made a "fertilizer load" *edited* of those and divided up into about 3-4 servings each) entrees was usually divided into 2-4 servings sometimes single serve depending on what it was.He also laughed he got some gallon jars with lids that he canned home made soups and ham and beans. also he made a few items like a couple of whole meatloaves or whole pans of pasta froze them to thaw out later for pitch ins and some people would never know that he would just cook for a week solid every couple of months and then barely touch a stove or microwave oven for weeks on end....I'm a really good cook...... but now with no one to cook for. I AM TV DINNER KING.....![]()
Well if they have way more than they need and are saving for post work so they can continue the lifestyle, why not? All the people getting their extra money need it more than they do.They have a maid for that..... and they have a lawn service. This stuff used to bother me.
Till one day I just realized that is what people with money do. Not every one..... some people with money are very down to earth ..... others aren't. I think they waste a lot of money...... really waste a lot.
