My leukemia's back.

Psst. So, Rachel. How are you doing? Are your spirits holding up?
I hope so.
Guess what my husband brought home for me in his lunch box last Tuesday?
Two itty bitty baby....rats.
Yep.
So their eyes were not open and they were cold and stiff...but they grabbed my thumb with their little tiny fingers...and the mom brain cells fired up and screamed, "You can SAVE them!""
so.
yep.

My brain has been apologizing ever since, I am sleep deprived, but their stiff little lifeless bodies are all warm and cute now.
They are eating every two hours.

I will try to take a cute rat picture for you if you want, but if you'd rather have a badly made balloon animal I can try for that.
I am good at balloon snakes.

I did this before when I was 18. Patty Ratt was the best pet I could have had at the time, and it worked out well.
But I am old now, and have BIG rodent catching dogs.
I do not know how this is going to work out.
I mean, I understand why it happened. I am the one that insisted on buying two dozen 'smash them dead' rat traps for the nursery- because I was tired of all of the rodent destruction... do you think it is a karmic pay back?

Anyway, I hope my rat manuscript cheered you up a bit.
Take care, dear!

OP- just jumping in here after being gone a very long time... I saw your first post...read a few pages back from the last page, trying to update myself. I'm a mom to a child with cancer...he is on hospice now, brain cancer... But, I wanted to share a tiny bit of info, please, please forgive me if it's totally unwanted or anything...
Have you looked into cannabis oil to help you? I've seen and known numerous people cured of many types of cancer, including leukemia, using cananbis oils.
My own son, while his brain stem CANCER is incurable, had many tumors go away using cannabis oil and no chemo or anything else.... Personally, I think chemo works MUCH better when in combo with cannabis. Many cured people agree.

Again, forgive me if I'm totally out of line here (it's legal in calif, and my son has his legal paperwork, and everyone seems to be open about its use).... If nothing else, you can PM me if you have any questions. Or maybe just google it?
God bless you!

I am so very sorry to hear that your son is suffering from brain cancer...it may be an idea to post this in the family life/random ramblings thread....I am sure you will have some great responses

I will say that something called "Radon Beam" treatment for cancer of the brain can be very beneficial....maybe read up on this and seek help for your beloved son....

Wishing you and your son more than I could ever wish for myself....

Love

Suzie

My heart goes out to you and your family. My mantra through all this has been "Thank you Lord this is me and not my child". I literally can't imagine your pain.

3goodeggs...

I've had pet rats before! They started as feeders for the snakes, then were so darn cute and personable we kept a few....then there it went. We did get rid of them years ago, I actually can see the appeal of them. Will be interesting to see how they work out in your household.

I'm just not sure about the whole bringing them home in the lunchbox thing? That's kinda skeevy.

They are still in the lunch box. So, I am thinking it is high time for a new lunch box and we will call that the pinkie box.
Their eyes and ears are open now, and I have them weaned onto milk bread, and I am introducing tomato and such,
I am so glad! I can sleep for longer than two hours at a time now.

SO! Glad you are home!
Are you getting prepped for the transplant, or did you get it already?
What is going on?
How are you doing!?!

I was also wondering how your hubby's schooling was doing? Does he like the program?
You all are just so impressive.
If we lived closer I'd bring over mac and cheese or something.
(Not in the lunch box)

(...and I'd wash my hands first.)

So, the plan right now is to admit back to the hospital for transplant on 2/17, with target to get my stem cells on 2/25. That means I'll be gone from home March, April and May, my goal is being home for Sugar Monkey's 8th grade graduation in early June.

Today's actually been rough. Not sure if I just didn't drink enough coming home yesterday, but I'm very weak and tired. Blech. Nothing specific, just that weak, shaky, tired, I've got to sit down NOW feeling.....all day. Blech.

Poor honey's having some adjustment issues. He's been off work with his gout, and then a respiratory issue, so going to school and now working a 12 hour shift is hard on him. He stresses over the animals, poor guy. Our pigs are being butchered on Tuesday, so that will help ease his load at home. The boys are stepping up some, but he's still responsible and that sets heavy on him.

I'd take the mac and cheese!
