My leukemia's back.

Rachel, I'm so sorry you're having to deal with inadequate care. That's just so very wrong, on so many levels. I can remember my frustration when my hubby was in the hospital for 6 weeks. He was too sick to see to it that things were done right... and he's too nice to ever put up a stink, and doesn't know his way around the medical profession, so I almost camped out at his bedside day and night. Talk about the B!+(h ! I'm sure they didn't like it when I questioned things that didn't seem right! Time after time, I'd tell them that they needed to be checking his potassium level because it was low. They'd assure me that it was fine. Sure enough, they'd come back and check it, followed soon by a little bag of potassium! So, girl, you go ahead and be the smiling B!+(h! We're all rooting for you!

Blooie, I have to say they're good about checking that. To the point where my door opens and I obediently chant out my name and DOB, almost before I know who is coming in! I feel like a trained monkey, but at least I know they've got the right person.

I'm just so tired today. Tired of injections that sting like crazy, tired of not getting more than 3 hours of sleep at a time, tired of feeling like I have to keep such a close watch on the staff. These people are supposed to take care of me and more often I feel I have to check up on them.

Rachel,

So sorry to hear that you are having such a difficult time....it's bad enough feeling so ill. without all of the awful problems you have had to address with the "care" in Hospital.

I don't know about you feeling like a trained monkey....it appears that you have been experiencing monkeys looking after you where you are. At least you can now accredit yourself to be a monkey trainer...the staff will have hopefully learned some better understanding of patient care...sadly at your expense....

Hope you will soon be out of there and feeling 100% once again!

Praying for you and your beloved family

I know what you mean about care in hospitals. Nurses get 12 patients instead of an appropriate 6 (example) and are told they better do a good job when it's physically impossible. Admin doesn't care about anything but the expenses. And no matter how admin cuts expenses, it never seems to work and it's usually the nurses that they try to save money on. Makes me want to scream. I don't work in a hospital anymore.

I'm sure you know your routine and medical care much better than the professional medical team. I think you know that you have to be your own best advocate. I'm glad thy at least check to see that you're the right patient.
