Quote:Well, I could buy that with Evan and Katie. They were really upset last night because they "get it". But we can't communicate with Kendra yet. She doesn't understand even the simplest things. She knows some words, but those are mostly nouns. She's 4 and that "conversation" she had with Molly yesterday was the first time she's ever put words together, and even then she wasn't forming a thought and then carrying it out - she was just mimicking what she's always heard us do. If we start to put her jacket on and say, "Kendra, let's put on your jacket." she gets that and holds her arms out for the sleeves. But if we ask her where her jacket is, she has no idea what we're talking about. We can't tell her what we are going to do or want her to do. She simply doesn't get it. Unlike most 4 year olds, she has no concept of anything abstract. If she can't touch it, smell it, taste it, hear it or see it, it simply isn't. So I can tell her, but she won't have any idea what I'm talking about. She'll still be looking for Molly no matter what or how she's told because Molly was. I know that doesn't make much sense but she's so hard to explain. If people crouch down in front of her and talk to her, asking her name or how old she is, she just flaps her arms and giggles. So I'm afraid that we're just going to have to let her keep looking and distracting her until her memories fade a bit.
