My leukemia's back.

Outpost JWB

I am so glad the girls had a good time. I loved having parties for the boy and his friends.
Happy kids makes me happy. The joy is infectious.
Great news on the job.

Sorry about your parents and the month of stress you are about to embark on.
Been there, did that...When you need to vent, we are here.

Good for your husband/you. Does that mean you do not have to move?

Nope, we can stay where we are. A lot of his sales calls will take quite a bit of driving so somewhere in the future we might want to move (but we don't have to). This is his first real job in 2 years, other than the occasional pick up sort of odd & ends so he's pumped...and a paycheck, now that's nice!

Boy, I leave you characters alone for one evening and BAM! New jobs, promotions, losing birds, hip replacements, birthday parties and.....and....what else? I know I missed something somewhere along the line.....oh, yeah, construction, water leaks, apple cider, alligators, and walleyes! I'm exhausted! I need a nap!

When we lived in Mississippi on the Sioux Bayou, we had a huge tropical storm, Beryl, come through. Stupid storm! It bobbled east to west along the coast for a couple of days, first hitting Louisiana, then blowing to Alabama - back and forth, back and forth! And of course since we were in the middle, it was just one continuous drenching with howling winds for us. Heavy rains trigger something in gators that make them move (I was learning the feeling!) and one night I was in my room and Kenny was in his when we heard this awful roar. Then we heard it again! He came out of his room and I came out of mine - we met in the middle and ran to the living room. Kenny opened the front door and there on our sidewalk was a gator. An enormous gator. An enormous, grouchy gator. The next morning he was gone. But we heard that a guy who lived down the street found him. Seems he was going to work and backed out of his driveway. The gator took exception to this and attacked the guy's Camero. The Camero lost.

"The Camero lost." I can just picture that!

Congrats to NFChick's honey on the job! That's wonderful news, answered prayer

JWB, prayers for you for taking care of your folks. Is you mom going to do inpatient rehab at all? Or have Home Health? Back when I was still a productive taxpayer I was a HH nurse, so I can help with questions/benefits etc if you need. It can be a tricky thing to navigate but there are benefits available some folks don't use. And yes, when you need to vent, we are here.

So, I think the blasted prednisone has been messing with me more than I realized. Things haven't been good inside my noggin and I've been thinking weird thoughts, not like me at all. They're supposed to start tapering me down at the appt this week (Friday), so hopefully I'll be more myself. The prednisone has helped my liver function tests, and it has helped my mouth a lot. The lungs, I'm not so sure. I still feel very compromised. I did finally get started on the respiratory meds, though. Advair, Singulair, and Zithromax, with a side of Septra as prevention for PCP pneu. Thankfully the Septra replaces that horrible nebulizer they gave me last month I thought was going to do me in. Funny, the doctor kind of acted like he was doing me a huge favor not prescribing that nebulizer again. I don't think he realized I wasn't asking his permission not to take it, I was giving him courtesy notification I would never, ever do that again

. Not sure he saw the difference......Anyway, just started the meds Monday, so no real benefit noticed yet. I did go to a friend of a friend's today who keeps chickens and didn't go in the coop, even though there were chicks. It was a small, very enclosed coop and I just didn't feel I needed to breathe whatever is in there

. Hopefully after Honey starts getting regular checks we'll be able to make more of the open hoop pens for my birds, I just feel they're a better option for me now.

Depending on the weather, Friday is my target date to process a cockerel all on my own, start to finish. I think I'm going to also see about using him to practice caponizing (after he's dead but before gutting). I've been reading about caponizing and thought, hey, why not give it a try? I've got cockerels coming out my ears. I got impatient when trying to render some pork fat last week and heated it too high, the fat is brown and smells like pork and stays liquid at room temp. I could probably store it, but instead I'm pouring it on some scratch grains and seeing if it will fatten those cockerels up some.

They said mom will have some therapy. Hoping in home, but not banking on it. My dad recently had 3 in home aids visiting. One came 3x a week, the other 2 came twice a week. After a month, the insurance denied anymore care for him because they said they could see no improvement. I don't think he can improve at this stage, but they have suggested over and over that he go to a nursing home. Mom will not have it. So, we are trying to honor their wishes. When I woke up this morning, 1st thing I thought is that tonight will be the last night in my peaceful home for awhile. We have an inside dog (DHs idea-not mine) anywho, Buddy is wonderful. He doesn't usually have accidents, he is well mannered, just a good little dog. Mom & dad's dogs are TERRIBLE! They've never been worked with and they jump and jump and jump and slobber and lick and slobber and lick and bark and bark and it's really going to take a toll on me! When I asked mom "What are you going to do about the dogs? You can't have them jumping on you after surgery." She said, "Well, that's something you kids will have to figure out"

She is very oblivious to life. Thankfully she is my step mom, so the genes are not inherited!

@donrae , hopefully it will help with them lowering the doses on the prednisone. The damage the meds do is almost not worth taking the meds. DH is on so many. They check his liver several times through the year.

@NorthFLChick , congrats on honey's new job! Less stress on him=less stress on you!

You all have a good day. I've got work to do on the house before I go to work (for the construction crew)-move furniture, empty cabinets, etc. Of course they COULD do it, it's just much cheaper if I do it.
