My leukemia's back.

Hi all

.

Phil, hope those steroids kick in and you feel better!

I'm loving the weather. Getting some gardening and other work done outside.

Making some peace with work. Apparently it's not going to be my long term employment, but it's good for now. I'm keeping my eyes open for something else, but in no hurry. I do like so many of the folks I work with.

Had a lung function test, it's been stable for the last 6 months or so. That's a good thing.

Got all my birds separated into breeding pens. The new Marans rooster and I are still having some issues. I think I'll keep him long enough to hatch some eggs then return to the person who gave him to me.

I've had a few training sessions with the dogs and the goats. It's going well, the dogs are not at all interested in messing with the goats anymore. Now to get some time to work with them on the chickens......

Tomorrow is Big Boy's birthday. He's 17!

Hope things are going well for everyone. Wishing you all good weather, happy gardening and good fishing

. And whatever else makes your skirt fly up.....

Quick question....anyone here have someone who has their diabetic testing supplies covered by straight Medicare? I'm trying to get this done and spent a good hour and a half on the phone today between the Dr. office, pharmacy and Medicare. So frustrating! I'd love any tips you all have......

maybe my mom. Humana? Will ask tomorrow ( later today).

Sorting out insurance details......:th. Ugh! I wish you good luck.

Picking up DD today:weee. She's been at her sister (my step daughter's) place for a week. I sure do miss my girl critter!

Been sleeping with one eye open all week again. Predators have one by one killed off & or picked off hens and pullets. I found a racoon INSIDE THE COOP Thursday morning. One dead Red Sex Link was being dragged out. My chickens are afraid to sleep in the coop (understandable) and roosting in trees, fences, wherever. It's taking me a lot longer to get them all in the coop. I know we are missing at least 5-10 chickens. Haven't been able to get a good count. Hopefully today. I had 2 beautiful silver laced wyandottes. One is gone.:( Also missing white leghorn pullet & a handful of others.

The coop has a 6" opening between the tin roof and the sides (ventilation). The raccoon I seen Thursday was climbing on the roost poles and rabbit cages trying to get out that opening. This weekend I am going to put hardware cloth all along the top. Hasn't been a problem for 3 years......until now. Poor chickens.:(

Good morning!

Phil, hope you're doing ok...let us know how things are going.

Rachel, you tell Big Boy happy birthday for us, ok? Wow, 17! Glad to hear you're making peace with the work status...much better for your peace of mind that way.

Outpost, sorry to hear about the loss of birds.

Happy birthday, Big Boy. 'peace on the job front' - GOOD. Real good news on the lung function. Hope that Phil can soon say the same.

Insurance is a major pain in the wazoo.

Sorry bout the coon issue. Evil creatures they are. Were you able to kill the coon that was in your coop?

Outpost, I"m so sorry! Evil creatures indeed.

Once you get things sorted, let me know if you want some hatching eggs to restock. I've just sorted breeding pens again and should have some pure Marans, some black sex links, and some blue eggers. Once the Leghorn hens reach maturity I'll have SBELs also, yippee!

Howdy Howdy guys.....haven't been posting much last few days....kind of in a funk. But I'm okay....breathing better but not as good as I wish I was.....but I'll take it anyway.
Hope the rest of you are all good.
