My leukemia's back.

Hey Phil. Better days are coming, including cooler weather just around the corner! Did I just say that? Summer just got here. Boy, has it been hot! The heat just sucks the energy out of me. Phil, glad you're breathing better.

Quick question....anyone here have someone who has their diabetic testing supplies covered by straight Medicare? I'm trying to get this done and spent a good hour and a half on the phone today between the Dr. office, pharmacy and Medicare. So frustrating! I'd love any tips you all have......

maybe my mom. Humana? Will ask tomorrow ( later today).
Found out Humana is an insurance connected to Medicare but not straight Medicare,
Humana does pay for all diabetic testing supplies. Hope this helps someone.

Sometimes it feels like you can't catch a break. This has been one of those weeks for me. Last night went to bed at 11pm. Woke up at 3am. Went out with flashlight to check on coop. Sure enough, had a visitor or visitors. The ripped head and wing off one of my CCL pullets. Left her body dipped in their water bowl. I am figuring racoons. I am also figuring they are making me extremely mad. We worked on the coop this morning until temps were over 90*F. Hubby's heart can't handle that. I have to work tomorrow, but I doubt that I am sleeping any tonight.

CCL girl was in coop, inside dog crate with the other young pullets/cockerels. They are 2 months old. I let them out during the day in a fenced in area, just so aggravating. If I had the money, I'd put 3 layers of electric fencing, barbed wire fence lined, security cameras, motion lights, alarms, and of course a moat with a draw bridge back at the coop. You know, can't ever be too careful.

On a positive note, we have a little creature that frequents around here. It is cute in a weird way. 1st time I seen it, I watched it for a long time, then googled it. This is not a pic I've taken, because when I see it, I run to get a picture taking device, but It flies away.

Those moths are cute. I can't tell you how often I've had folks insist that they were seeing baby hummingbirds. No amount of talk could convince them otherwise.

As far as your nocturnal visitors: It wouldn't be too terribly expensive to hook up electric fencing around your coop/run. You can buy a charger that runs off household current that will send a coon screaming for the nearest tree. IMO, it would be by far the easiest way to predator proof your flock. I'm so sorry you're having to deal with this. Been there, done that. Definitely sounds like coon in light of the bird being dunked in the water.

Hey, Team! Just got back from the cruise Saturday afternoon, and it was wonderful - I can't wait to go back.

Got some bad news when we reached the airport at Billings...the kids were up there renting a car to go back to Denver so Kendra can have emergency revision surgery. I've posted a complete update on the Kids with Disabilities thread and if you can spare some prayers, this little girl is sure in need of them! Thanks.

Blooie, Prayers to the throne room. Heavenly Father, we lift little Kendra up to you. We pray that you will lay your healing hand on this little girl. Bring her safely through this surgery. Give the surgeons skilled hands, and your wisdom in doing exactly what she needs. We pray that you will wrap your arms of comfort around her parents, and the entire family, and all those who love Kendra. We pray that the community will reach out in a real and tangible way to offer comfort, physical, emotional, and spiritual to this family. Bring Kendra back to us safely, so she can continue to bless this world with her radiant smile, and carry out your will for her life. We pray this in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. All God's children said, ...

AMEN! Thanks, LG!
