Sometimes it feels like you can't catch a break. This has been one of those weeks for me. Last night went to bed at 11pm. Woke up at 3am. Went out with flashlight to check on coop. Sure enough, had a visitor or visitors. The ripped head and wing off one of my CCL pullets. Left her body dipped in their water bowl. I am figuring racoons. I am also figuring they are making me extremely mad. We worked on the coop this morning until temps were over 90*F. Hubby's heart can't handle that. I have to work tomorrow, but I doubt that I am sleeping any tonight.
CCL girl was in coop, inside dog crate with the other young pullets/cockerels. They are 2 months old. I let them out during the day in a fenced in area, just so aggravating. If I had the money, I'd put 3 layers of electric fencing, barbed wire fence lined, security cameras, motion lights, alarms, and of course a moat with a draw bridge back at the coop. You know, can't ever be too careful.
On a positive note, we have a little creature that frequents around here. It is cute in a weird way. 1st time I seen it, I watched it for a long time, then googled it. This is not a pic I've taken, because when I see it, I run to get a picture taking device, but It flies away.
