My leukemia's back.

Ronott, Do you have a plumbing supply play or a Restore type store? Or call your plumber at worst case scenario and ask to buy a pvc elbow off of them.
Had them about a year now. Will not go back. Trying to think of a way to do this with chicks but don't want it too wide or deep for them to get caught in the pipe. I love mine! If it is put up high enough on a small stand, rats can not eat from it!

I do the ff in the colder months here in FL but it doesn't get cold enough to freeze here. Not sure it did anything egg production wise but the girls sure liked it. Now that it's hot/humid they have dry available all the time but 2x a day I mix up a handful of the dry with water and they seem to like to alternate between the dry and the wet.

Rachel, sorry you had to make that trip to the ER. Hope it's all smooth sailing from here!

Don't even get me stayed about E.R.s! The best way to come in is on a life flight chopper! Going by car forget it. Both myself and my special girl have had close calls because they didn't pay enough attention.
Sorry you had to go Rachel!
JWB,
That was close for that chick.
For FF, would not know the difference between good, bad, ugly or in between.
Might try growing some Meal worms though in the future...

Thanks!

I found the elbows at Orchard. I do need to go out to Harbor freight and get a hole saw.

The thread about making the bucket feeder has been updated with posts on making feeders for chicks. Someone used a folgers coffee container.

I had actually been looking at the no-waste feeders when I decided to try fermented feed instead

. I was undecided between a bucket and a PVC tube, but I think I'm going to go with the bucket. I can really see the appeal of being able to put a large volume of feed in there and just check it doesn't get clogged or anything. We have a great plumbing/electrical store called Grovers where they'll set me up with whatever I need, I'll just pull up some pics on my tablet and take that in. Pretty sure Honey has one of those hole cutter thingies that go on the drill, just have to double check the size. I know he has PVC adhesive and silicone and whatever else.

Feeling kind of better today, it's so subjective sometimes it's hard to tell honestly. I do think the viral thing is coming back, my left eye is puffy and watering. Dr appt tomorrow, and my specialist is coming down from Portland on Thursday so I get to touch base with him.

So I've got to tell you folks, I made the absolute best pork chops I've ever had tonight

. Quickly pan fried them in butter, lightly seasoned in my homemade seasoning of salt, pepper, garlic, onion and smoked paprika. I mixed half a jar of sugar free apricot preserves, about a tablespoon soy sauce, about 2 tsp yellow mustard and a heaping spoon of jarlic (the minced garlic you buy in the jar) into a thick sauce and spooned some on each chop. Covered and simmered until the chops were cooked---heaven! I figured I'd write it down here cause I know I'll want to make them again and won't remember what I put in the sauce

. they were incredible!

Morning Rachel & Team,

Rachel your pork chops sound delicious! Bet your family appreciates the home cooked meals again. Take care of that viral thing, you must be pretty tired of doctor appointments by now but it is nice you won't have to travel so far for the specialist.

Anyone remember when Blooie is due back from her cruise? I'm looking forward to seeing some of her always great photos.

@hbhoffman have you grown mealworms before? We're talking about trying a worm farm for the garden. Haven't tried growing any kind of worms before.

Lazy gardener, are you feeling better?

Have a good day everyone!

Yes, it was very close for the chick. She is doing much better now. Heat index has been over 100F for a few days and has been so rainy that the air is just THICK and muggy out there.

Rachel, those pork chops sound wonderful. Here I am at 6:19am, now hungry

Somehow I gained 3 lbs over the weekend.

Lack of physical activity and eating too much....I'll work on it this week
