My leukemia's back.

Smell like a horse...?

That's like a nice thing to say, isn't it?

I love the smells, sounds of a barn. No carpet ever felt as
good under my feet as fresh plowed dirt.

I am a county boy.

Dirt roads, rolling slow, checking the neighbors cattle, the fields.
Listening to the frogs croak in the evening. Just walking in the
woods as the trees rustle.

I'll bet Sour understands this one...I love to hear a hound run.
I don't want to chase him anymore...I'm too old. But to hear
it run on the scent...

Had an old Bluetick for years. My best buddy ever. We ran the
woods come night. Guess I ran near a thousand miles chasing
that worthless dog.

Smelling like a horse is a bad thing?

Not in my world.

Country born.

Can I get an AMEN?!?!?!
Amen. Love the smell of a horse and a barn! Fresh mowed grass. Grain. Fresh cut wood. The smell of trees. Grew up on those smells. I'll even take skunk scent any day of the week compared to the stink of a lady's perfume!

Lovely sentiment in every single line. How are you doing? How are you really doing? Good to have you back with us.

You had me right up to skunk, lol, my FIL actually likes the smell of skunk......

skunk reminds me of the good parts of my childhood.
The woods and the creek and the solitude and that faint whiff of skunk in the air.

A couple of my favorite smells:

sheets dried in the sun (Hey, Spook!)
wink.png

The scent of rain on the wind

Jasmine, one of our sweetest wildflowers

No skunks around here; the nearest thing to skunk that you'll find locally is stinkhorns
idunno.gif

And sounds:

Birdsong - from the soft conversation of a bluebird, to the cry of a screech owl in the night

The rhythmic sound of horses munching hay

The babbling of a creek over rocks (note to self - clear out the stream on the frog pond . . . .)

Mentioning which - you want to hear frogs? Step out on my back porch on a summer evening and you walk into a wall of sound; you can't even hear yourself think!

I am not a horse person, but yes, I know and enjoy that sound. The sheep did it also. I also love the sound of lapping water, and the lowing of cows, and the bleating of lambs.

I don't find the smell of manure offensive at all, but just the smell of the horse itself is so calming and relaxing for me. They say smell is powerful in accessing associated memories. I have many summers worth of horsey smells and the great memories that went with them. Here's to making more!!

We went fishing last night and caught some little stocker rainbow trout. The pond is full of little salamanders and I was remembering how my Dad called them water dogs.

4 Marans chicks this morning! And 2 more cracked eggs. Got another egg customer at work so things are going well.
I have labs on Friday. Finally got my lung function test scheduled and maybe I can taper down on the meds.

I've not heard anything from Sean. If I don't by Fri I'll call toe coordinator and see if I can get his info.

Phil, you need to understand something about horse people - horses are a drug, an addiction. They do something to us that no other animal can match. I can't imagine someone saying, "I smell like a wet dog - not that there's anything wrong with that," nor can I imagine the smell of chicken poop putting a smile on a person's face, but smelling like a horse is not at all offensive to a horse person. Yesterday, BB2K and I were in the grocery store, and she said, "I suddenly noticed that something smelled comfortably like animals; must be you, because I can't  imagine anything else in here would smell like that." I laughed and admitted that I had been cleaning out the barn, so of course essence of barnyard would be clinging to me pretty powerfully. Poor warped child, she likes the smell . . . . oh, dear, what have I done to her.:gig

Sorry to hear that you didn't catch anything worth keeping, but at least you had some entertainment while you were out there stylin' in your new waders!

Yup

Good luck Rachel... But don't push the taper..... Not saying don't entertain the thought... But we are both well aware of the problems when we tapered if we aren't ready.... I'm here still cheering you on....fl

Hopefully you can and things work.... This last strong with my lungs scared me to death... I let everyone know I was having issues but didn't say how totally frightened I was...... Breathing at times was almost impossible..... All because I wasnt ready with the weather and such....
Be careful not to push your donor... I wish mine had wrote back.... But I guess he didn't want to get involved.... Either way I thanked him and let him know he allowed me to live for my kids..... He is my hero....

So no I don't like the smell of horses..... I get it though.... Don't know that it makes me less country.... Although I'm probably not a country boy.... I live in the woods.
So I'm not sure what that makes me....
Probably a Red Neck....... Don't like country music.... Unless it's thirty plus years old..... Pink Floyd is more my type...... Kid Rock..... Black Sabbath.... Dam I'm not country..... I do live close to a city... But it's only one building....:idunno.....
:lau. ....I just joking you all..... But if you all decide I can be country and not like the smell of horses.... Let me know......;)

That was kinda fun and smart azz of me.... Night all....:frow
