My leukemia's back.

Phil, I vote you can be a redneck like me.:lau

Don't throw me out of the country club! I am not a fan of country music. I don't like skunk smell :sick, I have a slight fear of horses and have never went horseback riding because of this-believe me, the reasons are totally founded:oops:

Here is why I am country.......I live very far from any major city and love living on a one lane country road.
I love to grow my own food.
I love chickens, rabbits, our cat & dog.
I love fishing, and i bait my own hook & remove & clean my own fish:D
I've lived in Georgia and love the south.....just my allergies do not!
I love most critter noises.
I have no fear of bugs or snakes.
I dress up nicely for work & the second I walk in the door, I switch to my comfy clothes!
I love frogs and toads.
And I love cooking and eating! :D

I'm enjoying this conversation! You can be country w/o loving country music (gag me!) horsey smells, or even touching horses. Yep, frogs, toads, snakes, salamanders: all good! Snapping turtles, not so much! Difference between city and country: city guy sees a pile of manure and thinks: "Ooooh! Stinky Sh__! Better not step in that! Country guy sees the same pile and thinks: "Ooooh! Black gold. Wish I had that for my "maters and squash!" City guy sees a bug and runs for a can of Raid! Country guy sees a bug and sit's down in the grass to watch it for a spell, or catches it and tosses it to the chickens.

Yup... I'm about as red neck as they come..... And I was just funning with you all....I took a sleep pill and didn't go right to bed so I was in rare form.... Anyways got sleep.
Yeah I'd say there are about as many shades of.... "Country" as there are grey......;)

I am with the smell, sights, touch and sounds of the country...

I love the smell of my horses...they smell similar to orange peel...so much so that I once had a pony called Jaffa...Jaffa oranges were THE orange when I was young. The smell of new mown grass and hay, blossom in May of the hawthorne bushes...such a heady scent.

I love to see my dogs chasing aeroplanes, helicopters and the military jets that pass low overhead... (they haven't caught one yet), The sight of my horses when I put them into a new pasture;;;;they gallop around exploring...until they are exhausted and then they roll. I love the sight of my ducks and geese enjoying their aquatic play, my chickens when they come running to me when I call them.

Touch of all of my animals is beyond words...tranquility and warmth....!

The sounds of thundering hooves of my horses as I call to them when they are in their pasture, The chorus of the frogs, birdsong...at night we have nightingales that serenade one another, crickets calling on a warm summer evening...that is country music!

Hey Little Lake Phil....how about Lady Antebellum...? When they sing "Need You Now" I turn the radio as high as it will go!

Luckily I have no neighbours for quite some distance so I can play music as loud as I like....Eagles, Genesis, REM, Motown, Bryan Adams, Rolling Stones, Dylan...and even some French music!

Sugar Monkey loves to smell the dog's paws. Not sure he's smelled the cat's, I'll have to ask him.

Went riding this morning! Just a calm walk down the road and back while the friend did some schooling with another horse. Oh, the knees are telling me they're NOT used to this. That's okay, though, they'll learn to love it again. I'm whipped, though. Think I may take a nap before Honey gets home.

I totaled 7 Marans chicks out of 8 eggs, not bad

. I think 4 are blue, 3 are black. One of the blues was pretty spraddle legged in the incubator. I moved them to the brooder before I left this morning, thought I'd just check and maybe tape legs when I got home. Well, now I can't tell which one it was, so I'm thinking no tape necessary. They're all up and moving, healthy and active. Love me some baby chicks!

Phil--I like "50 Shades of Country". That sure seems to define most of us, doesn't it?

I'm thinking my Mother's Day gift may be a purchased mounting block. I asked Honey if he could make me one that was tall enough, sturdy enough, and still light enough I could move it. He said he was with me until that last one....anything the man builds winds up weighing a ton! So I may just buy one but I've not looked at all to see how much they are. Maybe I'll just have him build me one and use the money I save to buy more eggs or chicks! Not there's a thought!

He's asked what I want to do for Mother's Day....I think it may be put the garden in

. No jewelry or things like that here, I want tilled dirt and drip irrigation systems. That's definitely one shade of country
