Great news. Are you exercising any?
Do I need to put on my Devo hat and crack the whip?

I was doing exercises this morning that I never thought possible for me even a month ago.
Little steps really do matter. eventually, we get there.

Yayyyy, Rachel! Wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that you are now able to move around much more actively than you could do early on....whatever the reason, I'm thrilled for you!

Got 2 pips in the Silkie eggs. Tiny yet, but so was I once upon a time...

Thank all. I'm walking at least once a day on my 15 min break. The second one just depends on how hot it is. My tolerance for heat has plummeted the last few years. But I feel so much better when I get a walk or two in every day.

Had to go to the Grange today to buy dog food. Through some crazy random happenstance, today is the day they get their shipment of chicks

. Somehow 3 each black and red sex links wound up in my brooder---not sure how that happened. Think I can blame that on the prednisone too?

Go Blooie's eggs!

Morning all. Congrats on the ducklings Phil! Pics? My health, been better, been worse. Looking for a family doctor. Haven't had one of those in over 3 years. My old family dr moved out of area. I want one closer to home anyway. I have been to The Little Clinic 3 times and to the ER last Friday. Z-pack is all gone (again). Still taking allergy tablets, cough medicine, vitamin C, zinc, Flonase, and doing netti pot daily. Ear feels a little better, eye infection seems to be gone, so making progress. :D. There are A LOT of people with the same funk I have. Figuring its weather related. Way too much rain. Unseasonably cold. It's now 50F and pouring raining, :pdropping down to 42F tonight. This is not common May weather for Ohio. Have to do the chicken shuffle this weekend. We have a broody hen. She is our only Dixie Rainbow. She is doing such a good job being broody. We checked eggs and she had 11 day before, but only had 7 last night. One green shell remained with blood veins attached. So, the chickens ate balut while I was at work. Poor Dixie. All of the chicks from Meyer hatchery (in Ohio) are doing awesome! Regarding the ones I got from papa's poultry (California), I lost one black copper French maran a couple days after I got them. I didn't contact them for a refund or anything. Just amazed those little newborns made such a long trip & are doing so well:D I'd recommend both places if anyone mail orders chicks. Papa's poultry definitely went out of their way to insure safe shipping. Phil, looks like our weather here is going to straighten up for at least one day this week. So, we are fishing on Sunday! I can't wait! Well, got to get to work. Have a good day everyone!
Good luck fishing...i made it out tonight... We had a Good time caught a bunch of Pike and Crappie.... Although we were targeting Walleye they weren't cooperating.... But we caught fish and that was good.
Phil, you and your wife are going to love those kayaks. Some of my best dates have been in our kayaks. We took one camping trip... had to travel 6 miles of logging roads to get to a little river with a boat landing. Then traveled through the river to First Debsconeag lake, where there are some very primitive camping spots set up by the state. Beautiful area, fishing, moose, crystal clear water, sand beaches. The only amenities at the camp spots are a place to pitch a tent, and an outhouse. One even had an "open air" outhouse sitting in a very pretty little spot. You have to carry in your own water, and carry out all of your trash. Let me tell you... it's difficult to pack for a camping trip when all your gear has to go in your kayak. One year, we took the kids. But that year, we had help getting stuff there. (a friend took a little fishing boat! with an outboard motor) The only down side of kayaks is the difficulty loading them. I'm too short to be able to be much help, and those buggers are heavy. Hubby and I aren't getting any younger.
Sounds like a blast looking forward to kayaking.... Of course I got to get a fishing kayak.... Because I can't bare hitting the Water without a fishing pole
Morning all! Been a busy morning....chicks I didn't expect until tomorrow arrived early this morning. Post office called before I'd finished my coffee or my vacuuming. So we scrambled! Locked down 14 Silkie eggs yesterday and now I can't get the stupid styro incubator to maintain temp or humidity, so they may have to hatch in the Brinsea. Not a lot of room in there, though.
Love my Brinsea.....i just scoop the littles out as quick as I can
Rest? What's that? :DMostly I'd say I get about 6-7hours of sleep a night. I'm not generally tired. If I had time to nap, I probably couldn't. I am hoping it's just been a big mix of stress, germs, weather, allergies. Whatever happened, it hit me hard & I'm done with my antibiotics again. Left with ears and throat hurting, eye yucky & red, and nose drainage. Gargling salt & acv, putting sweet oil and cotton ball in ears, and using ointment for the eye. Eye is clearing up, just in the morning it's grose. As far as nose goes, netti pot is helping. Vitamin c, zinc tablets, hot tea w/honey, etc. Throat is the worst issue. Little veggies are growing. Can't wait to get them in the ground! Way too wet now. Tried to mow a pathway, mower must've died 10 times. Local commercial says it all........."Can't mow mud". Anyone had land drainage issues? I need ideas on how to solve ours. We live in flat country. Yard has HUGE puddles all over. No where to drain off. We have added dirt, sand, manure in the lowest spots. They are still puddled up this year. My brother thinks the solution is to dig ditches all over:th. The grade is not slanted, so, it will not drain to a ditch:confused:. French drainage would be ideal, but very costly. Any ideas? You all have a great day:D
Sorry all sand here.... Drainage is never an issue..... Good luck
