My leukemia's back.

<plop> My goodness, leave town for a couple of days and all kindsa stuff happens!

Happy Anniversary, Rachel!! You'll find that perfect property yet! It's out there right now giving another family joy and memories, and it'll be waiting to do the same for you! Can't help you out with any cataract advice - I have them but they are very slow maturing, so nothing needs to be done right now.

Phil, I'm so glad you went in and got a really good checkup! Sorry it's diabetes, and I have a little tidbit of information for you....wonky blood sugars do more than mess with your body - they can also aggravate depression!! So maybe getting that under control will help with the other a bit. Won't cure it, but might make it easier to deal with and help the meds for it work more efficiently. That was definitely the case with Ken's dad, anyway. Controlling sugars helped control his moods, which in turn did wonders for his depression! And with diabetes some depression meds either don't work as well or cause other issues, so keep monitoring!

A weight support group? My suspenders and belt can't even support my weight anymore and I've decided I don't really care! Ken seems to like me, my heart is behaving, and my legs still hold me up, so it's all good!

Aww, thank you all!

I've been chasing my sugars all blessed day. Found a recipe for cream cheese pancakes, basically just cream cheese and egg. Used sugar free sryup and peanut butter. Sugars have been up in the 300's today. Now, I'm down to 88 and think I may still be trending down, so I'm going to have a little something. I have no idea why I shot up so much

.

Got to have lunch with my friend who is pregnant today. Haven't seen her really since July so it was great to catch up. We had her shower on Saturday, and I was waiting to see what she still needed after that. I've been buying diapers, but nothing else. She said she got lots of clothes, but not jammies. I love baby jammies, so I get to go shopping

.

Anyone have any go-to freezer meals for new moms? I'd like to get her stocked a bit. I've got some fallbacks, but would love new ideas.

Ootpost, how's the wry neck?
When hubby's #'s go up, it usually means that an illness is on the way.

Chicken lasagna. Easy to put together, not something that everybody thinks of making. Super tasty, and you can cut the spices for the new nursing Mom. When I find my cook book, I'll send you the recipe. But, it's a basic white sauce (I make a roux with butter and flour then add chicken broth.) Season with basil. Add cooked chicken or turkey, broccoli or spinach, and layer with noodles, cheeses and sauce, just like a traditional tomato based lasagna.

Howdy..... Still not running on all 8.
But I'm hopeful tomorrow is gonna be the breakout day .
So all my hurt ducks are doing well..... Even snowball who was severely hurt is back outside with the rest of the flock. She may always have a limp but good to see her moving around today.

LG--this is why I need to post stuff here. If a patient came to me and said their sugars went up for no dietary reason, illness would be my first thought. But on myself, nope, not even on the horizon.

Plus, I don' wanna get sick *whine*

Okay, I hope it was just some wonky dietary thing. I've got to go to Mom's on Thursday and have my Fall Flock Reduction Sale on Saturday. Can't get sick right now, thank you very much. I'll pass.

Chicken lasagna sounds great, and a nice twist on traditional. I can put that together, thanks for the idea.

Phil, glad the ducks are doing well. Amazing posers of recovery, those animals.

My wry neck pullet died yesterday. When I fed her she was acting much more lethargic & the feathers on her head were sticking up. Poor thing. I tried.

@Blooie, so glad to hare from you as always :D

Well I have a zillion socks to match up before work today. You all have a good day!

I am so sorry!

Are the rest of them fine? Hopefully it was an injury and not something contagious.

Good morning!

Rachel, when I make shepard's pie, I'll make an extra to throw in the freezer for later. That's an easy dish to toss together...hamburger, veggies, gravy to hold it all together and mashed potatoes on top. Sometimes I switch it up and use chicken or turkey in place of the beef (we call that one pecker pie, lol). It freezes well and is an easy meal to pull together with a salad or dinner rolls.

Outpost, so sorry to hear you lost your bird. That's always tough but you did what you could for her.

Phil, glad to hear all your ducks are better.

Have a good day everyone!

Goodness, when you rest????? Hope the sale goes well -- how many are you hoping to sell?
I thought about you yesterday - my sister is preparing for an organ transplant and her transplant coordinator assigned homework of securing housing w/in an hour of the hospital for at least 1 month post-op, so she asked if she could sleep over up here (like she had to ask, right????) and I got to thinking about the time you spent up here wishing you could just go home already. I now your's was a transplant of a different color, but any tips on how to make her time with us better/easier/less insanity inducing? I know your recovery was a lot more like "lock down" because of the immune system issues involved with your transplant, but thought maybe you had some ideas on making the lay-up period more bearable.

Ooh, shepards pie -- so yummy and a great freezer type meal!

I'm thinking it was an injury. Maybe she flew into the coop. Literally. When I found her, she was laying right next to the coop door. All the others had to trample over her to get into the coop. The others all seem fine.

Hope you all had a great day and a good morning tomorrow. I'll be going into work early so don't know if I'll have time to stop in. Is anyone else off kilter this week? I woke up this morning having no clue as to what day it was.....Thursday? Friday? Then looked at my phone, OH! Tuesday. Going to be a long week!

Yesterday was the first day of fall Quarter here at UC Davis. Tomorrow is the first day classes. This is the busiest time of the year and it seems even busier than normal.

I will be very happy when things settle in next week or so.
