I told them it smelled like dude. Sugar Monkey said buy them air freshener. I replied I have no vehicle now. So,he took a 8lb bag of oranges in the room, peeled and ate I think 3. He left the peels in a few piles around the room. He's calling it Redneck potpourri

Seriously, I'm kicking them out for a while. Build a snowman or something. Get out of the house and off my nerves for a while. Or maybe I need to get out. Wonder if the body shop can loan us a vehicle for a few hours so I can run some errands and just get out.

One of the local body shops here often supplies a loaner. Ask.

No, orange peels won't attract fungus gnats. Mix some pyrethrin or permethrin in a gallon of water, and water the plants with it. The larvae live in the soil. They are a nuisance for sure. attracted to moist soil. I always treat my plants before bringing them in for the winter.

Using the granules will break the life cycle and get rid of the gnats. I have done this before!

Called about a loaner rig today. They're all out. I'll have Big Boy drive me around and do some errands.

Had a tree in the main run break yesterday. No damage to speak of, and I'm pretty sure that tree was dead anyway. It was a smallish thing, so the Locusts were able to just remove it.

Lost a gutter above one of the stalls also, probably from snow weight. We're wimps here, so is all our stuff. Not used to snow at all.

But we've finally go sunshine today! That helps so much!

I may throw open some windows later on. Let the wood stove do it's thing and get some fresh air around here.

Love the redneck potpourri!!!! I think maybe you should do both - kick them out *and* get yourself out and about.

Funny, I raised two girls and one boy...the girls were always fine, but the boy? Ken used to say that that smell is "normal" - it was just that his pheromones trying to decide which fragrance would be more attractive to chicks when he got older. Definitely a test I could have done without.....

See - that was me, too, I mean I had DD and she never had a funk -- DS has a funk. It isn't that he's unclean - he showers regularly, uses deodorant, etc and yet he still has the funk. I've been thinking I'm doing something wrong with him

As to the test theory -- can't imagine any of the scents I've noticed so far being attractive to girls........just sayin'

So, got a bit of big news today -- my mom called to tell me to "pencil in Feb 8 & 9" on my calendar -- seems I'll be at OHSU with my sister and mom as she starts the really real part of her transplant process. She's done all the pre-pre-testings and clearances (heart doctor, dentist, eye doctor, skin doctor....the list goes on and on) and they are putting her in the official transplant rotation (for lack of better word) now. Mom and I have to attend the "caregiver" training and sister will be doing further testing, studies, education, etc. This is a huge leap forward in the whole thing!! Her potential donors will all be screened to id the best match and then it's just a matter of the timing for when they decide it's time to do it so could be weeks or even months after that but it's progress!!!!! Hoping for sooner rather than later, poor mom is just a nervous wreck doing the dialysis (they're doing it at home) - they've been at it a little more than a week and she is just convinced she's going to do something wrong and kill my poor sister.....

another snow day for the Locusts. 

The truck isn't as bad as Honey had thought. About 3K to fix it. So, I get to keep my truck! I let Honey think it's his truck, and let him drive it, but it's really mine, you know.    And he seems just fine. Neck was a touch stiff yesterday, but today nothing. So, I think we're good. Thank you Lord!

Got to get the boys outside today and do something. Their rooms are starting to smell like dude. 

Cancelled my appointment at OHSU, we'd never make it in the weather and it's just not that important now. I'm doing much better, more of a baseline. But that was scary!

Trying to be off the computer today. I've got things to do here, and this site just seems to suck my time away!

I know first hand what a blessing that is....they put my sister on the transplant list, then they took her off when her heart weakened, then put her back on. Now she's permanently off the list, which breaks our hearts. She just has too many strikes against her so it's dialysis 3 times a week forever now. No home dialysis though - when her hubby goes to work she rides with him and her dialysis starts at 5:30, then her daughter picks her up at 10:00 and brings her home. When Ken and I are staying there for Thanksgiving or during the summer, we take her and pick her up.

The testing is an endless cycle, isn't it? When the family was tested to see if any of us were good donors, only two of us tested well...my sister Bev, who had to lose 150 pounds before they would seriously consider her even though she was the best match to that point, and Ashley's mom Jenna. Jenna was ultimately rejected as the testing got more intense. Bev went on a medically supervised diet and exercise program - she so wanted to be Linda's donor. I don't understand the terminology or criteria but it was something about Linda and Jenna having the same RH antibodies in common or something like that. That was fine with Linda, she was adamant that it not be Jenna because Jen had enough on her plate with Ashley, and also she could never be happy if she took a kidney from one of her kids and they ended up in crisis later on. They are all so young with young families, and Linda just couldn't accept the risk on the part of any of her kids. It's all moot point now. There is no transplant for Linda in the future and she accepts dialysis as her new normal.

And I know transplant from the other side as well. Our grandson Austin had "organ donor" checked on his driver's license and many people are living full lives because of his generosity. And then of course there are our Rachel and Phil, alive today because of the kindness of others. I will be praying so hard for your sister, for your mom, for you, and for those amazing people who are unselfishly sharing part of themselves to be tested as potential donors or have signed donor cards.

Brrr, baby it's cold outside! (well, cold for here, lol, and apparently I have already started acclimating because I'd not have blinked an eye at these temperatures in Indiana, but here I am FREEZING!). We're supposed to get a "horrible storm" this weekend --- a little snow changing over to freezing rain, nothing too major, but folks up here just cannot deal with that sort of stuff so everything will be shut down and my intent is to get out today and get us set to hunker down inside without having to go out with the people who have no business trying to drive in even a few flakes. Guess that just means I'll have more time to waste (err, invest?) here on BYC.......
