I need to keep this in mind!Don't cry. A Place for Mom is suppose to be really good at keeping track of the better caregivers, and facilities. You know she is with a good caregiver. She's not being neglected. She's not being abused. She just lost her Minion. As I said, old people hate change. They get very set in their ways. Really old people, really hate change, especially when they're not getting their way all the time. Not all old people are like that, but the majority are. This is an instance of "not what is wanted, but what is needed." She is fine, and being cared for, so stop focusing on her. You've done the best you can for her, and you've done a fine job.
For now, focus more on yourself. Are you allowed Sleepy Time tea? A chunk of turkey meat as your snack shortly before bedtime? Will the doctor allow something a bit stronger for pain? Maybe a dose of of Benadryl, or Sominex which will not only make you sleepy, but it helps a bit with the side effects? One of the craziest things I hit upon was harp music. I don't really like harp music, but when going through chemo I too had times I just could not sleep. I would turn everything off, play harp music I had downloaded, and it would lull me to sleep. That's the only time I ever listen to it, but under those exact circumstances, it helps me. Reading an actual book helps many people, and it distracts their mind from worrying. The water stream from a hand held water pic, aimed at the affected lymph nodes, helps keep them moving things along better, and helps keep them from backing up.
I don't know if any of that helps, but I'm throwing it out there, just in case.![]()

At my age, I don't like change much either so it makes sense that really old people would like it even less
