that beetle is bigger... about the lenght of a quarter... they used to come in baled in the hay... crack open a flake and out would fly one of the green beetles. We used to catch em and tie a horse hair aroudn ther neck then fly them on the string....They did a whole big write up about the little nasties a couple of years ago in the local newspaper. Don't know how Missouri got to be so blessed but we seem to have more than our fair share of them.
We also have a bug called an emerald tree borer that is another nasty.
Is that 'Japanese Beetle' pictured the same as a June Bug? Sorta kinda looks like a common June bug that we have around here. Or at least a variety of them.

Scarab beetle or Fig Eater beetle totally harmless.
