Somehow I can't conceive of a vehicle that long "turning on a dime" unless it came with 4 wheel steering

Glad I'm not the one putting gas in that! But I'm glad it has been a good vehicle for you all these years.

bruce, yes, it turns on a dime, which make it great for backing in everything from our travel trailer, the boat, and utility trailers into tight spaces, at odd angles.

In 2001, I was going through a divorce, had 3 young daughters, and a very unreliable clunker. My parents came down, and took me to get a vehicle. I ended up with a 2000 Ford Expedition, that had just been traded in. The previous owner bought a new vehicle yearly, and took really good care of their vehicles. It had the Eddie Bauer package, and every other upgraded package available. It was, without a doubt, the nicest, most luxurious vehicle I had ever owned. It was perfect for me, and the 3 girls. A lot of Expedition owners told me I'd regret my choice, because they'd had problems with theirs.

That 20 year old Expedition is still the vehicle I own, and drive today. All the froo froo seemed like a bit of overkill at first, but we soon got used to it. Our first trip from FL to KY, and none of the froo froo was overkill. It has always been like driving a cloud, and riding on one. It's very responsive, turns on a dime, the lumbar support works like it should, the overstuffed leather seats have not broken down, so they offer good support without being stiff. It will easily pull a loaded trailer, and the self leveling airbag suspension, is amazing for that. Up until a couple years ago, most of the parts on it, were the original ones that came with it. I've had very few mechanical issues. Yes, I've kept up with all the routine maintenance throughout the years. A couple years ago, is the first I began having a few issues with it. Hey, after 18 years of hard use, some parts just wear out.

We've talked about getting me another vehicle. You would think that I'd be overjoyed at the idea, but I'm not. I'm not finding the newer SUV's, or Pick ups, to be a suitable replacement.

Sounds like that was a great vehicle for you for a long time GAC!

NFC, I still drive it. As I said, I've looked at replacing it. Back then, the Expedition was actually a Pick up truck, with a modified interior. The newer Expeditions are more like upgraded cars, and don't have the pulling capabilities of a truck. I will need a pick up truck, but they are not nearly as comfortable a ride as my old Expedition. Too, there are a lot of complaints with Ford's eco boost system.

A couple of years ago I noticed that my 2 year old truck was not breaking right. When I stepped on the brakes at lower speeds, it would start breaking, then suddenly break less and I would have to press harder on the brake pedal. I took it to the dealer for them to check it out and the guy listened to me politely, but I could tell he thought I was just being overly picky about how the truck was handling. I insisted that he take it for a test drive and check it out for himself. He had a changed attitude when he got back and they fixed it under warranty (for free). About 6 months later, I get a recall notice for my truck. For a faulty brake pump - and the description of the problem was almost verbatim what I told that service guy, lol.

You and people like you are the reason there was a recall. If enough people don't complain they sure aren't going to pay money to fix problems.

Hi everyone! As usual I am frequently absent...my OH has been suffering from depression for a long time and I have been concentrating a lot of my time supporting him, he is not out of the woods yet and has some very negative days and wants to run away from everything...I am strong and give him every encouragement to help whenever I can but it does drag me down and is so very hard to see him suffering...he is negative about my animals and is very critical of them..they are my life and give me reason to be happy; he cannot see this so you can imagine we have some heated conversations....ah well, I am confident we will survive this in one way or another but the animals will always remain with me! I hope everyone here is well and I do miss you, I will try and get here far more frequently than I have of late! Much love xxx
