Thanks for all the compliments! I can hardly tear myself away from the brooder!

Yes, a good way!
I don't want to leave the brooder. I could watch them ALL day!
They are just so funny to watch! First they are sound asleep, then suddenly they are all up and eating and drinking and generally making a mess! So glad that I bought a pet cage with a wire floor and a plastic tray that pulls out from underneath. I can't imagine trying to keep a plastic tote etc even semi dry with the way the little cuties tromp through the water and everything.
This is the pet cage I purchased to use as a brooder: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0006L12W8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Since the ducklings will be in our living room until they are old enough to live in their coop and pen, I wanted something fairly large and really easy to keep clean and dry-ish. And even though it was more expensive than a plastic tote etc, I knew that I'd get my money's worth in the long run because my neighbor is planning on brooding baby chicks next spring and I can't think this will be my one and only time at raising ducklings. ;-)
Ducklings Ducklings Day 2
I got up in the middle of the night and somehow ended up by the brooder. Most of the ducklings were eating, etc but one of the Welsh Harlequins was finished but of course wouldn't go the their "bedroom" by herself, so she was just standing there falling asleep while waiting for the rest to finish and somehow ended up standing in the middle of their water dish, eyes closed, her widdle bill all tucked into her chest - asleep! Then one of the Buffs decided she was in the way and bit the Welshie in the butt! So cute!
Then I decided to try holding them again and both of the Buffs and the all black Cayuga dozed in hands because they were so sleepy from making all that mes while eating! So precious!
Actually, they hasn't been nearly the mess I was afraid of. There's a little bit of smell, but the slide out pan under the brooder is going to be rinsed out tonight, so that should take care of that. I think that between the slid out pan and the tall brooder guard, the mess won't be too bad for at least a while. And if it is, well, we were already planning on replacing the carpet and repainting the walls lol.

This afternoon when I giving everyone a turn at beingterrifiedheld, one of the Buffs managed to jump out if my hands! At first she ran under the brooder but when I tried to grab her, she ran under and behind the tv stand where I couldn't reach her! I tossed the dogs in the guest room just in case they got too excited and tried to encourage her to come out by gently guiding her with a paper towel tube, but she wasn't having any of that. Finally I took her Buff sister out of the brooder and while holding Buff #2 very securely in one hand, I managed to guide Buff #1 out from under the tv stand. Talk about nerve racking! And all I could think of while I was holding the second Buff was that if I end up losing this one too, I might end up in a complete panic with all six ducklings darting around the living room!
Here's a pic of the poor baby under the tv stand:
