He is so cute! We have quail where I work. I have been wondering if they would make good pets and how well they would tame if handled frequently.

Thankyou, he does get 'extra special' care compared to some of my other birds. He's just such a lovely little bird!

Ah just white, his eyes are still black. I have had an almost all white Quail once before and I believe others have achieved a pure white (possibly albino?) Quail. However they usually don't live long due to health problems

I love Hugo's colour though! The darker patches on him have a sort of dusty/Ashy look to them.

They can make great pets, if you keep the indoors they are very dusty though. My little guys stays outside but still comes in for his cuddles haha! If you were to raise one on it's own from hatch, I believe you could get it as friendly as Hugo here!

Hi Ted, I personally find COTURNIX QUAIL like little Hugo very easy to raise. They do not require as much space and as long as they have a big enough run more than one male can be kept together. They also mature fast.

Everything would, of course, depend on your end goal in wanting to raise them

Indeed he has, he just loves bouncing around and getting little strokes!

I sold his parents for the reason that I was no longer wanting to keep quail. I was going to sell Hugo until I realised how friendly he was and that he was in fact a he/male.

No one wants males here and I couldn't let someone eat him due to his friendliness.

I won't go out looking for a female for him but there is a possibility one will come up in a few months. I'll have to see though if I want to get another one to go with him!

Don't worry though, he isn't always alone. He comes out with me everyday and has time in the garden and house. On warm days, I bring the Silkie chicks about his size out too so he has some friends to roam with

Does anyone know where I could possibly source a one of those bird diaper things? Or at least the instructions on how to make one?

I love having Hugo in the house but I can't always when he poops every 5 mins...
