My Love Affair With Ducks...

I know this is my duckie thread, but I wanted y’all to see the rest of my craziness! Rusty, my main man, doesn’t put up with the new little whipper-snappers. He’s pretty quick to put them in their place and if he doesn’t, my older hens will!

Dooley, fingers crossed and he keeps being a good boy, will be my back-up roo. He looks a lot like his father, Rusty, but with more color. He is actually 3/4 Welsummer, which gives him that pretty color, but he still shows that 1/4 Barred Rock. He is not personable like Rusty (he likes being held and scratched). He stays pretty much away from me. But then again the hens keep him on the move and he’s probably pretty sure I did something with his two hatch mates last weekend.

My broody, Gabriela, and her 7 babies. I am so hoping that I have 5 little pullets. <please, please, please>

Just hang on my friend! Some videos are uploading as I type...very slowly I might add, but they are. Remember, I live in the boondocks.

Also, you are so right about hearing me howl from Alabama to Illinois. The dang thing is hurting now more than ever. I think I caused it though, and hope I didn’t do irreparable damage. The other night I used Hibiclens to clean it after a long day of exposure. Well, it seems as though the Hibiclens has caused it (the raw edge of the incision) to begin sloughing off, or dying. Dang it!
Why on earth did you drench it in Hibiclens?! - That stuff is way too strong, you should have rubbed it with rock-salt! - Kidding of course!
Just use soap - i mean soap, like in a soap-bar, not that liquid "soap" where the manufaketurer is more interested in the nice smell and the profit than in the cleaning and disinfecting capabilities. Good ol' soap is really good in removing germs and is not too harsh on your skin.
And then to make sure that no germs will do harm, use an OTC antibiotic ointment…
Works all the time with me! And trust me: With my pair of clumsy left hands i get bruises, scratches and cuts daily… Let alone my latest attempt to kill myself 👉 No good deed ever goes unpunished!!! - Part III 😮

Everyone led me to believe you only had to hunt for eggs if your ducks weren’t confined to a small area. Weeeeeelll now, that isn’t necessarily the case. I find myself hunting for them everyday.

I found them, I found them.

And here they are! :wee
I told you! Not you will make the decision whether there will be new ducklings, not you!

Something so simple as a mud hole can make a duckie smile......
