I want a couple of turkeys, Blue Slates to be exact. I’ve heard they are very cuddly. My ducks didn’t turn out to be the cuddly creatures I thought they would. They just want to poop on me as soon as I pick them up.

I give both of mine snuggles in my lap everyday and I never get pooped on. They usually tell me they're about to poop by yelling at me so I can put them down and then they poop on the ground. Mine love snuggles so much that just me putting them down whenever I got pooped on was enough for them to learn to stop.

It is only the runner female that is doing it. And what’s interesting is I haven’t seen any duck mating in a while now.

And on another subject, since you are very knowledgeable, does a drake’s penis fall off yearly? I have read conflicting articles. I’ve read where it can get frost bitten and/or prolapsed requiring its being trimmed of necrotic tissue. But then I’ve also read where it falls off and regrows each Spring, which seems somewhat contradictory. If it falls off in the “off season” how would it ever get frostbite? I’m really just curious.

I know there are some supposed "studies" that have circulated saying this.
But I guar-en--tee you my drakes keep theirs year round and use them. I have never walked in the duck run and stumbled upon a dried duck penis.
Maybe they do grow, regenerate to a point after a prolapse and partial removal. But they absolutely do not fall off every year and grow back.

I have heart that too, but i never have seen a drake shedding his penis. On the contrary, their corkscrews seem to be very sensitive, you remember the story of Erpelchen Drake's encounter with Blanca Duck the »snake« hunting duck? The boys here take great care of their "extension" even cleaning it in the pool.
Afaik they can get frostbite or a gangrenous infection in their penises, sometimes making an amputation necessary with an infertile drake as a result. That's it with ducklings! - It won't grow back.

Well, with some of my drakes i would not bee so unhappy if their corkscrew would fall off or be rendered dysfunctional, at least temporarily. - Blanca Duck just quacked her consent!

My LeRoy Brown Drake is a good drake too! He is gentle to the girls and i saw him screaming at the dog while it had Spot Drake in his mouth.
