My Love Affair With Ducks...

I don’t understand why her advice gets a thank you and my great advice is ignored...

2 cold snaps a year!! It was 16 degrees here this morning. I hope my bees are cozy and warm.
There’s a difference in advice and aggravation! You are kind of like that loose hair under my shirt tickling my back that I just can’t seem to get ahold of! But when I do.......AHHHHHHH!

We are supposed to get low again tonight, a possible freeze. I’m definitely gonna cover my big blueberry bushes. I don’t want those little blueberries stunted. Surely the little peaches won’t be damaged. This is my first year with the peaches. My blueberries I can’t live without and I just used up the last I had in the freezer.

My question about your bees is: do you put straw or shavings down for them to snuggle in?:lau Just kidding, I couldn’t resist.

I am a sweet tender guy and germs freak me out. I am harassed endlessly by friends and relatives over my quirk.

The quirk that gets them going the most is my removing clean dishes from the dishwasher....

and even I admit this is a tad weird, but I can’t take them out and put them in the cupboard unless I am wearing latex surgical gloves. I don’t want my germs on my dishes.

I have tried to not wear gloves and I just can’t do it.
What in the world!?! And you have chickens? Even though I kiss my girls and my rooster, they are probably one of the dirtiest animals there is. I mean, for Pete’s sake, they bathe in actual dirt and dried poo. You don’t wear gloves picking them up and interacting with them.

When my boys were young I was much more of a neat freak I guess because I had a new house, new car, new babies! I’ve mellowed quite a bit! No, I’ve mellowed a whole d@mn lot! Now, bwahahahaha, let’s just say if I drop a good potato chip on the floor and one of the dogs don't beat me to it, I’m gonna pick it up and eat it. Same thing with outside, but the chickens are much quicker than my dogs! 🤣 Dang birds!

My DH can’t stand to get his hands dirty. If he helps me plant flowers or do anything non-poop related, he is beside himself til he can go wash his hands. Dear lord, I’ll eat a sandwich or Vienna’s and saltines while I’m out working. 😳😂

I’ve gotta go check on my broody and her new chicks, 3 as of last night. She has two more eggs that I’m unsure about. I don’t want her needlessly continuing to set on them.

I have a bunch of little videos to upload. I’ve gotten behind these past few days. I’ve got too many irons in the fire. But I’ll leave you with this precious picture.

Just look how sweet, all piled up on each other. I completely lowered the heat plate because they no longer went underneath it. They always pile on top.

Oh Lordy, you’re just like me. I am an only child and all the animals I managed to wrangle became mine! I’ve had a bunch of things and I reckon the only thing I haven’t kissed or tried to kiss (that I can remember) is a frog. I’ve never kept snakes, but I have had many lizards, mud puppies, turtles, etc., that I’ve caught over the years, not store bought.

You can be sure, if it was a living, breathing animal I’ve either kissed it or tried to kiss it. I guess it was back in the late 60’s that I remember the ‘salmonella’ scare and my pet turtles. I think my parents did make me get rid of them and I was heart broken.

As far as germs are concerned, personally, I’ve never given it a second thought and I’ve remained extremely healthy my entire life (well, until arthritis struck). I believe the more germs you are exposed to all along only help make you stronger. And for that I have all the animals willing to be kissed to thank! :love
I agree! I did try and have a pet garter snake I caught, I made a home for it in an old bath tub, I fed it a frog and I watched that poor frog get ate. After that I released the snake back into the wild knowing I could never do that again! At least the snake got an easy meal. And I too caught my pet turtles in the wild, I held them a lot and never washed my hands after, never did get sick. We need to be introduced to germs from the moment we are born to make are immune system strong. Look at what has happened with Covid 19, people have never had this particular virus introduced into their immune system until now that is why so many people are getting terribly ill. Once it is around for a while and everyone comes into contact with it they will have a better immune response the next time. The sad thing is older people and people with underlying illness have a worse time of it. But the new generations to come will be introduced to it early in their life so hopefully will have a better immune response when older.

So true about the potato chip!!!!

I had a swimming pool once. I just used cartridges.

Fake Eilleen, lucy and I are a lot a like. Except I am better than her.

Miserable day here, wind, sun, then clouds and driven snow. The weather is not fit for a dux even.

My birds didn’t even want to go outside today.
Crazy weather, I usually have my garden tilled by now. 😕
