She was obviously not hurt, thank goodness.
You guessed it. She scrambled right out of the brooder!
I knew it was only a matter of time. She could have gotten out long ago by standing on the heat plate and tumbling out, but I lucked out. Tonight she was only wanting to get back to her family. She DID NOT like being separated.I have seen that move before, it’s training for turning on their humans...I uploaded this video from this afternoon while sitting here on the side of the bathtub during the ducklings’ tub time. I just happened to catch the wild hair that struck them all. But it’s funny nonetheless.
Peaches got a bit crazy and flipped back into the water during the chaos. She was obviously not hurt, thank goodness.
And now for the bad news: after tub time I remove each one from the tub, dry them off and then put them in the brooder (pool) and tonight Petey was the first one. Wrong, wrong, wrong on my part. As I was getting another duckie out of the tub I heard a Peep Peep Peep getting louder and louder and then a Splat Splat Splat across the bathroom floor. You guessed it. She scrambled right out of the brooder!

I think she will be okay tonight, but I did place a little feed pan upside down next to their pool just in case. Tomorrow I will put a cardboard boundary up around the side. My babies are growing...way too fast.
You reckon that monster sized, bully of the bunch, baby duck is gonna get out during the night and come Splat Splat Splat through the house, in stealth mode I might add, and nibble my ears and nose off? Her little bill does have a pretty substantial pinch already and she knows how to use it. But she’s awfully cute while doing it.I have seen that move before, it’s training for turning on their humans...
You should be wary, very very wary...
it was funny though,if I didn’t know what the practice drill was for

Aw heck, Ralphie, I don’t why in the world I’m asking you that! That’s a question for a duckie lover! And that is not you!
Here are just a few videos of our time spent together outside today.
Today was the first time I saw them dabbling or drilling. It started with one, Quinny, then two, Latte, and then three, Petey! Petey drove the jack hammer home. Just listen! Here’s Hoping They Strike Oil!
If you want a good laugh, watch this video in slow motion. Petey The Wisecrack gets a hair up her butt and runs like a banshee, right in front of the camera. In slo-mo it is hilarious! Bill open, winglets straight up in the air! It looks like she’s running from Go
Last but not least, Quinny could be heard saying, “Get That Bee Petey, You’re Taller Than Me!”
These little mess makers are certainly entertaining!
This is why I do not worry about finding black duck poop In The coop.
The others are physically ok, but since i only let them loose when i am outside, the drakes are fighting each other and are forcing themselves on the ducks.Oh no!! Prayers that you find themAre the others ok?
