Had a bad time today: I got trapped in the duck-house by incline weather for 30 minutes and realized that it isn't the cozy place i thought it is. - Still too much draft to begin with…
Can't wait for the HfH-store to reopen here, i do need to buy some windows for my ducks.

I understand why your brain was addled.
You are lucky to get out alive. 30 minutes stuck in a building with nothing but dux would kill a lessor person.

“you done good”!

Ha ha!
My DH locked me in the palace one time.
It was about 10 minutes before he finally heard me yelling. 🤣

Actually, he heard you right away, but decided it was more important to finish his beer, before letting you out.

I think he read the “real love section” in the Husband Manual.

Because you gals don’t get the Husband Manual.

I will tell you what it says.
“If you want to see real love lock your wife in the trunk of the car, or some other small space. Lock your dog in a similar trunk or small spot.

After 10 hours let them both out see which one is happy to see you and which one is not”

Actually, i was alone in the dux' house, they are enjoying this kind of weather due to being water proved by design. Here you can see me sitting on top of their nest boxes:

You need to develop some reverse raccoon abilities: Breaking out of the poultry jail, not breaking in… 🤣
I thought for a minute I was gonna have to see how human proof hardware cloth is.
My DH builds things sturdy enough for an elephant. Had I even been able to kick a piece loose I'd have probably hurt myself pretty bad doing it. 🤣

ROFLMAO.
SOOOO TRUE.
dogs are so much better than people. 😉

Back in the winter, I'd sometimes just sit in the coop with my poultry for thirty or so minutes, just listening to them and petting them.
I'd love to add some ducks -- they're so cute! Unfortunately, our pond isn't quite big enough to have water in it all summer long, so the ducks wouldn't be as happy.
Boy, I must sound absolutely nutters to Ralphie....

My duckies don’t have a pond and seem pretty happy with their pools

Well, I won’t tell anyone how long you sit with your birds as long as you don’t tell anyone that I’ve been known to sit with mine for a couple of hours! Long enough for my booty and legs to go numb.

We also have two ponds in our front pasture that go dry most of the time in the fall. However, my ducks would not be safe there, even during the day. We have huge alligator snapping turtles that we can’t seem to control. The wild geese and egrets aren’t bothered by the turtles, probably because they are fliers. IDK

My little duckies will be backyard ducks with a little ‘fake pond’ of their own. Right now they are most happy with a kiddie pool.
