Yeah. My birds are decendents of his lines. So I think the better quality birds are just so dark they start off black.

Thanks everyone for the compliments.

I just got a call from a friend. He knows someone that built a new thousand dollar coop then changed his mind about chickens and was going to burn it. He saved it for me. And it going to drop it off at my house on Saturday!

Yay. Looks like the BLRW will have a new coop sooner than expected.

Sooo are you saying your peeps looked black to start out with and then got blue w/red? Did they have red to start? I bought 4 chicks to be BLRW and so far I have 2 blues and 2 blacks. Now I fess that I got these NOT from a good breeder but a local farm store( said chick dealer bought local) . And I have excepted that they may just be black and blue wyandottes...there is no red color on them anywhere. They are 11ish weeks old.. am I reading too much into this that they still might be BLRW down the road?

No, they start out as chipmunk striped chicks. If your's have no red coloring on them they aren't going to develop it. At eleven weeks BLRWs lacing is very apparent.

Constructive critcism always applicable
