My Runner drake starts calming down around October the girls can still be flirting with him but he is much calmer then.. Last year they mated all winter long but this year they are 2.5 yrs old so we'll see.

I guess it all matters on how you feel about your birds. I give them time, but I personally am not interested in keeping critters where I have to watch my back or I have to carry a weapon for.

Aggressive male poultry of any species is dangerous, and they take the joy and peace out of a hobby that's supposed to be enjoyable. I have tried myself to correct a few, and have not been successful. It seems becoming too familiar with the males makes them more likely to challenge you at some point. I like for my males to have a healthy respect for me and to stay back.

I personally haven't had much luck turning aggressive males of any species around. A few have but most eventually go in the freezer and I give a nicer critter a chance. Life is too short to be terrorized by poultry.

I almost spit my coffee out. That is a great line. . you could market that saying and make a fortune!

I agree I wouldn't put up with any aggressive animal forever. But at least with duck the chance of serious injury by him isn't as severe as say a rooster with spurs.
I would give him time and practice putting him in his place.
So far with mine I've noticed the time of year and age of duck makes a world of difference. Be firm and consistent and don't let him run you over. It could get a lot better once his hormones calm down.
However I will say if you can only have two ducks you would be better off having 2 females
So think about what's best for your girl if he doesn't calm down and it comes to making that hard decision.
