My mam wont let me have another rooster, read reson

My rooster i have now is getting old, eggs are hardly ever fertile, he dosent protect them, he pecks them at feeding time, etc. So i told my mam this and she said "kill it" i said no because i got the rooster form a place were he wasnt treated well, anyways i asked if i could get another rooster, she replied "no, they will fight each other to death", true? or false?

They might spar for a day or two to see who's boss. But if you have enough space and enough hens the two roosters should be able to work things out.

Probably false. I have 4 roosters right now and they all get along just fine. I fyou have enough girls there, then an extra rooster shouldn't be a big deal as long as you quarantine and supervise for a while. Your older one will probably just ignore the new guy anyway after he gets used to him being around.

If you introduce a very young rooster to the flock they may be fine. One that is not old enough to crow yet.

well the one i have now rarley mates the girls i have 1 rooster and 11 hens and a big feild the reson i was considering it is because he only accept 5 girls to be his girl friend, the top 5 hens they are the othere 6 dont have a rooster with them and go seperate to the rest so i thaught a new one could go with them

I have two roosters in one coop and 6 in the other. The no fighting . It's all how you introduce them.

Roosters always need homes to go to, because they arent as valued!!!!

I would tell your mom they would get along well,
but they may have a quick fight or too then it would be over.
I have had both fights & no real change when introductions are over.

Maybe you could find a free one on Craigslist, or from a neighbor.
