OH ... I forgot to mention .....

when building an incubator, build the tray racks FIRST ....
THEN... build the cabinet around it, with lots and lots of elbow room inside.

I'm with the other men ....  build it BIGGER - BETTER - FASTER !!!
    My uncle had a saying ... " Don't mind the mule, just load the wagon "
there is no way I could ever get rid of 500 chicks if I ever built such a monster.
BUT !!!  I will !!!   lol lol    just because it holds 500 eggs doesn't mean you have
to fill it up !!

I built the trays around the egg trays I bought. I had a good idea of the size but the trays sealed the deal.

Im sure it was in the original post somewhere but what did you use for your heat source? was it linked directly to the thermostat?

It has flexwatt and a light. The flexwatt is good but not quite enough for that big of an area. I think it has a 75 watt bulb in it. In the winter I have to have a little more since the room is not heated or well insulated..... I add a food dehydrator for extra heat.


All the heating elements are wired directly to a plug that runs on the thermostat. I have a plug for heat and cooling.

Great post and bator. It gives me more ideas for my next bigger n better bator. Although not this big . The turner is great

Hi, lovely Incubator. I'm in love.
This is most certainly my next project.
Quick question, can this be built as a still air unit?
I'm not too savvy with the air circulation systems....
Also, do you leave eggs to hatch in setter? I don't see a hatching are in you incubator...
Just asking...
