I am a new chicken steward and I have 22 hens and one rooster. A friend recommended BYC to me when I mentioned that something was wrong with my rooster. I am a disabled vet and struggle with PTSD. My chickens mean the world to me. When I am with them all I can do is smile and be present. They are true therapy to me. I am so grateful for the support folks have shown me on this sight. It really means a lot to me. Right now my rooster is sick and it is all I can think about, so it makes for an awkward introduction, but I thought I would try. I was up all night studying chicken diagnoses, so maybe I will add to this later when I am rested. Not sure how to tag members on a post yet or I would tag some really great fellow chicken lovers. Thanks all.
 
Welcome to BYC. You will find many kind and knowledgeable poultry friends here. If you'd like to talk about your rooster and get some guidance you can make a post in the Emergencies and Diseases section, giving some details about his symptoms and health history. Good luck!

Hey Welcome @Gustaf mom. I'm a vet too and can relate on those things bringing quite a few smiles on a daily basis. Recently got locked out of the house by the boss for checking on the girls before getting in the house... coming in from a business trip.

Please let us know what's going on with your rooster, hopefully we can help. They tend to be more resilient than hens.

Yes, those chickens are very calming and therapeutic to have around... many folks including me find their antics and personalities to be the absolute best medicine. I hope your rooster can recover quickly. Best wishes!
