My Mother's Cancer. She has passed. 1/28/2011

I have Mom on the church Prayer chain.

Our prayers are with you and especially today.

Hebrews 4:14-16 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet was without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

Prayers lifted for your mom. Is it a GI stromal tumor? Also know as GIST? If so, PM me. I am a research nurse and have had quite a few patients with GIST. There are good treatments for GIST beginning with the surgery.

Well, I still don't know a awful lot more than I did before because I was asked by my mother to please stay home and make certain all of her animals were taken care of. She did not trust anyone els to do it.

As a result I was not there to ask the Dr. myself the things I was curious to know. My Aunt (Mom's Sister) Called me and said the Dr. told her that Mom came through surgery just fine and that he saw no growth on the outside of her stomach and that he went ahead and put in the port for her treatments. She is suposed to have a few of those and then go back to him in around a month for another look and with luck, surgery for removal.
I asked about the limph nodes and the omentun but Donna said she was so nervous she forgot to ask and he did not say

Sooooo, now more waiting.
Mom is home and feeling fairly well after the proceedure so I am thankful for that.

It is a blessing far beyond what I could have ever asked for!

Checked in on her tonight. She is very sore. Her navel is bleeding from the incission (sp?) and where they put in the port is painful. She just looked real tired and uncomfortable. I feel so bad for her and wish I could take it for her so she would not have to go through this
