My Mystery Duckling is Becoming a Menace

She could be Buff Orpington or a Pekin so she came as a mystery duckling? From where? Have you looked at the hatcheries website at the ducklings to see if you can match her up? She sure is a pretty little one and looks very healthy. I know many will post on here usually in spring when their ducklings are arriving that their Pekin will mouth breathe even without heat. I don't know why this is but we usually hear of it more with Pekins. Make sure to supplement with something like Nutritional yeast or Liquid BComplex at the age they are they are growing so fast they can sometimes end up with a niacin deficiency which can cause lameness. Other than that I would just keep an eye on her if she is eating good and not isolating herself from the rest ( which usually means they are sick) then hopefully she'll grow out of this. Her heart beating fast most likely from you picking her up. But if you continue to be concerned then possibly an avian vet would be the next option.
Please keep us updated.
Thank you sooo much it means a lot to me (and Sweden). I got them from Metzer Farms. By their charts she looks either: Pekin, Duclair, or Saxony, etc. she could be a lot of different duck breeds 😬 To me it seems her eyes might be becoming swollen, or I am just paranoid.

Hi, another question on the mystery duckling, they are now three weeks old, and huge:hit(I miss the tiny babies). and I'm still not sure on the breed. She has been panting a lot😕 (mouth open and rapidly breathing). They have
NO supplemental heat even at night. I've been giving her a Homeopathic Remedy tincture of Antimonium Crudum. Any idea's, suggestions, or wisdom you want to share would be greatly appreciated (by me and Sweden the mystery duckling)

Where did you get the idea to use antimonium crudum for a duckling? I honestly did not know what it was so I looked it up and I read that no direct evidence supports the safety of Antimonium Crudum tincture specifically for ducklings. Its use in ducklings should be considered experimental and performed only under professional guidance. Did your vet recommend it?

Hi, Jenbirdee
To answer your question, we use homeopathy which is a natural remedy made from either plants, animals, or mineral. The reason I'm using it is because it worked wonderfully on my chicken that had a respiratory issue, and it has no harmful side effects. (also, it was the only thing I had on hand:p).
