He‘s working hard to make the best of a difficult situation, rebuilding the coop and trying to understand what all he has...

I‘m afraid there are way more Roos than he needs and they’re all magnificent. In some cases the sex is obvious, but others are not so (to me). We’re hoping for some learned opinions regarding breed and sex. In addition to what’s shown here there are a couple of Barred Rocks, Mr and Mrs Wilson, the Mister being the Main Man. There’s a total of 11 birds.

1. This guy is second in command. What breed?

2. These were sold as RIR but I don’t think so. Breed?

3. a roo, I believe, what breed?

4. there are three of these beautiful birds

5. and two of these lovely hens

3 is Speckled Sussex rooster
5 is barnevelder maybe
Others look like may be mixed breeds.

2. Not RIR, possibly new hampshire red or production red?
3. Definitely a roo, something speckled but not a sussex or a jubilee orpington
4. Rooster, unsure of breed
5. Silver pencilled plymouth rock.

Wrong comb type as well. I suspect not dark brahma. Agree with double laced barnevelder. Changing my vote on that one.

Off that subject, I have a friendly RIR 4 weeks old I am naming Tabasco, isn't that a cute name for a red bird?
