My neighbors’s wife left him (and the chickens) 😲

1: Mix? Or Game Fowl?
2: NHR
Thanks so much for offering your expertise! I wondered about game fowl, too. SO beautiful, and he has a lovely disposition. You’re not that far away, are you? Don’t you need a sweet guy for your flock? :D
and I think you’re right about #3 being Swedish Flower. I remember when the now absent owner first got the chicks she was excited to have some SF in the group. Sadly, at least one and maybe two were lost to predators.

and the Barnevelders, that’s another breed she was keen to have. They are especially beautiful, the ones I’d keep if I could.

Barnevelder, My penciled silver rock looks nothing like her. Both beauties.
The dark rooster here is very pretty.
The name of this thread would be a good country song, just saying...
Lol! Thanks so much for taking part in this little exercise! I’m waiting anxiously for the song to debut. If it’s ok with you, if the song gets recorded and you become a millionaire (if you aren’t already) do you think you could contribute part of the royalties to BYC, without whom none of us would be having this conversation? You could start a scholarship or something like that... the possibilities are endless!

3 looks like a speckled sussex mix and 5 is a double silver laced Barnevelders hen, oh I want one!

Bingo on the Barnevelders! Thanks so much for offering your time and expertise. Aren’t they beautiful? And the name is melodic, a pleasure to say out loud, just rolls off your tongue. I catch myself wanting to find excuses to use it in conversation. Tricky...

1- Easter egger mix (could be a whiting true blue)
2- red rangers
3- Swedish flower
4- silver double laced barnvelder
5- silver double laced barnevelder
Thank you! Don’t you need a nice rooster or two?

The red rangers, is that like a production bird? meat? They were sold as RIR but they are twice the size of mine. They are laying a lovely brown egg and have a sweet disposition.

Thanks again for taking the time to share your obvious expertise. And, I agree completely, roosters ARE awesome!

1. Unsure
2. Not RIR, possibly new hampshire red or production red?
3. Definitely a roo, something speckled but not a sussex or a jubilee orpington
4. Rooster, unsure of breed
5. Silver pencilled plymouth rock.
I thought SS as well but they have pink legs.
Wrong comb type as well. I suspect not dark brahma. Agree with double laced barnevelder. Changing my vote on that one.
Black cat, thanks so much for your response. I’m always interested to hear what you have to say; I believe you are an incredibly well-read peeper keeper. I hope all is going well with you and your little flock! :thumbsup

No problem! Looking at other people's opinions, I definitely change my vote from sliver pencilled rock to double laced barnevelder, it is a much more accurate estimate. Thank you so much! My flock has a shiny new coop and is doing well.

If it weren't an all-day round trip or it were next year when my facility were ready I'd have LOVED to have rooster #4. Silver penciled is one of my favorite color patterns.

:(

Hmmm. Think about it. There are three of those. We’d meet you halfway. Or I could drop him off on my way to see my mom in Va weekend after Thanksgiving. I’m sure he’d be happy in your guest room for a few months. Just think about it. 🙄

Thanks for the offer, but we live in different states. Also, I have Marek’s disease in my flock, so I’m not looking to get more chickens for the foreseeable future.
Red rangers are a meat hybrid, but not with the health problems associated with cornish X.
