Heres another thing, my neighbor has penned her rooster up and I haven't seen him in 2 days now and I have had no problems. I feel if it were a chicken hawk or another predator they would be back. Everything had been very calm, except my last mallard (female) had been very depressed. She hasn't been swimming, she hasn't been with the rest of the ducks, she just been alone and has no interest to be around any of the other animals, can a duck be depressed?
Yes...She is mourning and you should find her another a Drake...Breed is not important as all Ducks love other Ducks..

Rooster killing the duck would be a very messy process. A great deal of minor damage would be evident on the ducks head and eyes likely severely damaged. Feathers would be all over the place as rooster would not be able to to kill such an foe outright. If duck sick then death could be rapid. Male duck will not defend female duck except from other male ducks.

Killing /culling rooster at this point will subject you to legal problems.

Both you and neighbor need to confine flocks if both parties are not able to agree on free-range boundaries. Both parties must agree.

He came back and ran so it's not a good picture but can anybody tell me what kind of roosterthis is?

Male ducks don't defend females from other male ducks. They are more then willing to share her with any and every other drake that comes along.

I know this is going to go over like a lead balloon but since there is no blood and a long feather trail and your duck was on his back is it possible your duck had a seizure? The missing eye could have been post mortem a bit of time did pass. This would account for the missing wing feathers as well a scavenger could have plucked or duck could have done it himself during a seizure. A bad seizure honestly can mimic a fight very well. Your other duck might not be depressed she might actually be ill.I hope not but it's a possibility.

Watch wild mallards during breeding season. Competition not resolved only by who has the longest or injects the mostest.

No one was talking about wild mallards. The topic is about a domestic drake.
I raised domestic mallards for years. I'm quite aware of their behaviors and breeding habits.
Drakes do not defend hens from other drakes. They're all happy to line up and take turns.
