My New Barn

I will have to ask my amazingly brilliant and generous BIL

He has it set on a dawn to dusk timer as a motion sensor wouldn't work till I was over halfway there.

Our maremma is working out wonderfully so far. He's very calm for a puppy, he is 13 weeks old and look how big he is already. Most of his time is spent quietly watching everything that goes on around him. His coat is amazingly thick and fluffy. I can barely get my fingers down to the skin through all the dense hair. His collar is loose enough that I can stick all my fingers under it at the same time yet look how much fluff is oozing out around it.

When the birds flap or squawk, he investigates but not in a chasing sort of way but rather in a "what's going on over here? Do you need help?" way. He is teething now and shew on lots of things, but all appropriate things, his toys, sticks, weeds and grass, his tail... I am confident that any birds left out after the pop doors close will be well taken care of.

Just found your thread and am so impressed (read 'jealous') of your barn, and your puppy! That was a ton of hard work and it all came out beautifully - congratulations!!!

I got to see this coop in person yesterday (thanks for the tour, Michelle!) and it makes my breeder coop look like a cardboard box!!

The last of the chickens are finally in the barn. The brooder was brought out from the garage last night.

The upper level is the last batch of Icelandics who are actually ready to be integrated in with the rest and the lower one has a couple birds that just need some extra care. One is a millie roo that was not holding his own with the turkeys. So until they can be penned separately he will be. And then there is my teeny tiny maran. She is 3 or 4 months old and the size of about 4 week olds. But she's adorable and I don't cull because of imperfections, she's not part of a breeding program.

We are going to build another single story box of the same design for a broody box.
